Sold two different items, same day, same buyer. The orders got combined ... HELP!

This is something I was not in any way prepared for:

Today I sold two separate items (two separate listings) to the same guy. Got two separate notices of sales. Went to print shipping labels, and I see that eBay considers this a single "order," and only one shipping label was available. I also noticed that the weight shown was the weight of the two items combined, but the package dimension shown corresponds with only one of my two boxes, and the other box does not seem to factor in.

These are large items. I don't even have a box which could hold both items. Most people would not.

Although I was thoroughly confused, I decided to print the one label on offer, figuring maybe then I'd be prompted to buy a second one. There was not second one available. Now, the one I did buy was for an amount that was right (with eBay's discount) for one box, not two.

I have no idea what's going on, and what I'm supposed to do.

And here's the kicker: I then found out that to a different single buyer I sold three different items today also. And again, there is only one mailing label on offer. The weight shown represents the total of the three boxes; but the package dimensions correspond only with my single largest box. ??????

(In order for the potential buyers to be able to see the shipping costs, my wife and packaged, measured and weighed each item before listing them. I thought that's what I needed to do.)

Can anyone explain to me what's going on, and what I should do next? Have I wasted  the $25 I've paid eBay for that one label?

It seems that I'll now have to just take the five boxes to UPS and pay them what they want. Meaning I won't get any eBay shipping discounts.

Never until today have I sold multiple items to a single person on the same day. And today it happened twice!

You can purchase up to 5 labels per order on eBay. You can purchase unlimited shipping labels via other postage providers, but you can only upload 5 tracking numbers to an eBay order.

Buy the label with the weight and dimensions for the first box, then go back to your orders page and use the option to purchase another label, entering the weight and dimensions for the second box.

Just a little FYI...

Today I sold two separate items (two separate listings) to the same guy. Got two separate notices of sales. Went to print shipping labels, and I see that eBay considers this a single "order," and only one shipping label was available.

Your listing were auctions, so you could easily receive separate "Item sold" notices from eBay, hours or days apart ... when each auction ended.

eBay considered them a single "order" because the buyer paid for both in a single, combined payment.

@wastingtime101  gave you good info on printing multiple labels for the same order.

You can purchase multiple shipping labels on those purchases, just change the information for each subsequent shipping label to reflect the specifics of the second package.

If you need to void a shipping label, go to the shipping labels tab and then to that label and then under "actions" I would think that is where the void request is.  I can't look because none of my shipping labels would qualify for voiding at the moment.  But when you request a void on a USPS label, it refunds in a week or so.

Then go to this link  https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf and uncheck the box for offering combined shipping.

If a buyer adds two or more of your items to their shopping cart, I believe Ebay combines the order into one shipment for you

That sounds dangerous! What if one item can ship Media Mail but the other item cannot? Which shipping option would eBay use when figuring the label to use?

For example I have a magazine (which cannot ship Media Mail) shipping by Priority Flat Rate Envelope and a book (which can ship Media Mail) shipping by Media Mail. Now both won't fit in the Flat Rate Envelope so what will eBay do?

The shipping only combines automatically from the cart IF the exact same shipping method is on the listing AND the buyer actively selects the exact same shipping method for all items.  It's difficult for many to use.

Than makes sense... I usually buy the same types of things from the same seller, so shipping would be combined
