Hi, this is my first post and I’m not sure if I put it in the right category. If I did I’m sorry. I have been selling sneakers for almost a year now. The majority are new. I must first say I’m located in New York. When the new authenticity process started I was happy to see I only had to ship the sneakers to Astoria New York. This was convenient and I knew exactly what my costs would be. The problem I have is today I was preparing my orders to be shipped and one pair said it needed to be shipped to Las Vegas Nevada. This was a really shot to my profit considering it now cost $10 more to ship to Vegas site. I’m curious if this has happened to anyone else? I did call Ebay for an explanation and was basically told yes that’s the way it is. I then explained that the policy is not a good business practice because I have no way of telling if it will cost me about $10 to ship to New York site or Vegas site for almost $10 more. This is basically cutting into my profits with no way to tell ahead of time which site I will have to ship to. I have asked to speak with a supervisor to get some clarification but am still waiting. I tried to explain to them that what if I cut into your profits somehow. I’m sure they would be upset. I’m very curious if anyone else has experienced this problem. If so does anyone have any advice on how to handle the problem of not really knowing what my costs are when listing an item. I feel if I build the higher shipping cost into my price I will be losing possible sales and if I don’t I’ll be losing money. It’s hard to run a business when you can’t predict your costs. I would really appreciate any advice anyone is willing to give. If eBay gets back to me I will post the response. Thank you all very much for any help.

if you have to ship out west and lose an extra 10 bucks then thats the way the cookie crumbles.
I like shipping to the tri state area also, here in PA we call it the deleware valley
I guess you prefer the authenticator in NY and not the one in las vegas
this is a very common problem..... folks out west are cutting into profits and adding taxes
maybe you could ask other sellers the best shipper to use for sneakers UPS vs priority mail
dont want to sound stupid but maybe market your wares east of the Mississippi
come up with a promotion for the east coast
good luck

Thank you for the advice I really appreciate it. I understand what you are saying about shipping out west. The thing that bothers me is I would like to know upfront where I’m shipping so I can price accordingly. The problem is the buyer could be on the east coast and if the New York site is too backed up they can decide to make me ship it to the Vegas site. It doesn’t make sense. I had 2 orders today for the same style of sneaker one package went to New York the other to Vegas which cost me like I said $10 more than I expected. I can’t do a east of the Mississippi promotion because they could require me to ship to the Vegas site if New York is too backed up. It’s like when they re worked the recent fees at least I know what my costs are upfront. That’s what really bothers me is not knowing. I’m hoping once they catch up it works out because it also hurts my feedback when they are running behind. Thanks again Happy Day to all

I suspect eBay are asking sellers to send items to different sites due to buyers delivery address.
We sellers have no advanced knowledge of geographical location of our buyers and only thing you could do is to build in $15-00 towards your postage cost and hope that items going west are less than 50% of your total sales and if this % is more then you adjust your price again.

I realize this post is several years old. However, I’m the buyer in this incident and I have purchased from New York seller. The last update is the fact that my $600 Purchas is sitting somewhere in New Jersey. I purchased from the seller before, and the only reason I do not purchase from him via Facebook marketplace Is the confidence of paying via PayPal. 🤷🏼♀️ Hoping that there is an authentication center somewhere in the New York/New Jersey area because I am not patient whatsoever.
I can only fathom what it feels like to be a seller. Because there’s so much of a delay between a buyer paying for an item versus seller shipping it out to the Authenticator. And then the authenticator shipping it out to the buyer. This process alone would drive me absolutely bonkers!!!
Rest assured that your buyers are about as impatient as you are. 🤷🏼♀️😂
