Shipping with no tracking

As a new seller, can I ship without  tracking? Is there any consequences to my seller rating? What happens if it gets lost? Please help! Thank you in advance! 😀

You can but, it's not wise.   Without tracking, the buyer can say it never arrived and get a full refund on your dime even if it did. 

If the item gets lost, it does not matter weather it's got tracking or not, you will be refunding.  Some forms of shipping include some insurance.  I suggest you use tracking.

Yes, you can ship without tracking.

A whole lot of us sellers who sell stamps, post cards, coins, etc., etc. do not use tracking for small-priced items through the USPS.

And actually, items arrive faster to buyer without tracking...LOL

I haven't had a lost item in years that I can even remember.

There are sometimes a weird buyer which you might want to use tracking...always check buyer ID...how new they are and where item is going...and what buyer usually buys.

Seller rating...it hasn't affected me yet. I do not wish to be a Top Rated Seller or a Top Rated Seller Plus which items need tracking. The benefits are rather small for my business plan.

If this is about item 296942462714 I would advertise First Class Letter/Flat and ship untracked. (Note: you cannot buy untracked shipping on eBay, but you can weigh it and affix the appropriate amount in postage stamps, or take it to the PO to buy postage.)

Value is low enough (about $5) that if a buyer files a non-receipt claim it's not a huge loss. Most buyers are honest and, in my opinion, chances of a buyer filing a claim on a manual are low. But yes, if the buyer files a claim you'll be forced to refund.

As a new seller you may have an extended payment hold period for the item without tracking, but again, it's only about $5 so shouldn't really matter.

It will not affect your seller rating to have an occasional item without tracking as you are Above Standard - not Top Rated. You can check your Seller Dashboard to see your numbers. It will affect your 'tracking uploaded on time and validated' percent, but that won't matter since you're not Top Rated.
