Shipping with USPS First Class

Hello  all,

I have been selling on ebay for awhile now and never had a problem with USPS First Class until today.

Here is what I have been doing. I have been shipping items WITHOUT putting in the "Dimensions", I left it default at 1x1x1 in. (My package is usually 3x3x1 in. &  around 6oz.) Does it matter if I put in the "Dimensions" using USPS First Class? I have been shipping over hundreds of item WITHOUT putting in the "Dimensions" and all of them has been delivered.

Today I receive a mail letter from USPS saying that one of my package does not meet their requirement for using First Class. They say that my item is too small, which is 3x3x1 in. Is there a minimum Dimensions? I print the label via eBay.

One more question that I cannot find online. Do I have to put in the correct weight and dimensions for using a Flat-Rate service? ex. Using a "USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelope" If I fold in half do I need to remeasure the dimension and put in the correct weight?

Thanks all!

Don't fold the padded FRE. It doesn't matter what dimensions you enter for any of the Priority Mail packaging that's provided by USPS.

I don't know of any minimum dimensions for FC packages, BUT USPS does state that the label should be entirely on one face of the box, so 3 by 3 inches isn't nearly enough for that.  I would be afraid that such a tiny package might be more likely to get lost. Why not just put it into an envelope that's big enough to accommodate the full printed label?

Never ship in a box that doesn't have one side that measures at least 4" x 6".

If I don't fold the package then the item inside will just slip and not secure. Also I use poly mailers so I have to fold it. Hundreds of package has been delivered with the folded labels, but idk what happen. Thanks.

ebay labels are 5 inches square when trimmed and fit a 5 inch cube box perfectly

packages need to be at least 3/4 of an inch thick for 1st class

that is why people stuff a ball of paper in them.so its not a flat or something when using a mailer

I ship using poly mailers, not boxes. That will make the weight go up and I have to ship via priority which cost too much. 😉 thanks, I guess I'll try to use box instead of poly mailers.

My package is 1 in. thick. I'll try that putting more things in to make it bigger.

You would think with all the other problems they need to address, they would just shut their mouths, do their jobs, and deliver it.

Really USPS? With all the poor service you need to fix, that's what you are going to complain about? You actually mailed a letter for this?

Yes there is a minimum size for parcels:

At least 3 inches high x 6 inches long x 1/4 inch thick.

The USPS minimum length of 6 inches is to avoid loss or damage during handling, automated processing and transport.
