Shipping via Priority Mail

Hello, and Help Please.

I've been wading through pages and pages of information for the past  three days and still have no answer. The Post Office seems to have only one Level/Price for Priority Mail. eBay, however, shows Priority  Mail #1 and Priority Mail #2.

While the price for #1 is roughly twice that of #2,  there is no indication of what needs to be in place to differentiate the two. Location, weight, package size, etc. don't seem to matter. I'm confused as to why anyone would pay,  Say, $15.05 instead of  $4.84 .  And how to get the Post Office to agree with eBay.

All helpful information will be greatly appreciated.

Can you provide more details @freyajanesllc? There's no such thing as Priority Mail #1 or #2.

Are you looking at different services? Like a Flat Rate Envelope and a weight-based rate?

If you're not sure what you're seeing, then can you post a screenshot (black out any addresses before posting)?

There is Priority, Priority Flat Rate or Priority Reginal A or B. Flat rate is fixed cost, Priority or Priority Reginal is variable price depending on where it is shipped to.

What are you shipping, how big is the box it would need to be shipped in, what is the weight?

Or will it be shipped in a Priority envelop?

There's no priority service that would cost as little $4.84. The least expensive discounted priority rate would be $7.52 for FRE and items have to be small enough to fit in the envelope.

Where are you seeing this Priority #1 and Priority #2?

It's not on ebay, usps or anywhere on this planet.

Nope. $4.84 doesn't match any rate in the DMM that OP would be using.

$15.05 on the other hand is the retail rate for a 10 pound priority package shipping to zone 3.

The online/commercial rate for that package would be $11.55, not $4.84.

"How to get the Post Office to agree with eBay" - I wasn't sure what OP meant by that, but maybe they don't realize that online rates are discounted vs the prices you pay at retail and the PO does not price match online rates from the retail counter.

Where are you seeing "Priority Mail #1" and "Priority Mail #2"? There are no such names for actual USPS services.  We can help if you give more details about what you have been trying to do.

USPS has two sets of prices: Retail, which is what you'd pay at the Post Office counter, and Commercial, which is the discounted online rate.  (Some Commercial services have further discount tiers for big customers who presort their pieces.)  But the differences between them aren't as great as in the example you cited. There is no online Priority Mail rate of $4.84; the cheapest online postage available for Priority Mail through eBay would be for one pound to the closest Zone, and would cost $7.37.

It might help if you spend some time with eBay's basic shipping calculator tool:
