Hello,
I have a general question here about shipping. I've been with ebay on/off since 2001.. I've seen and experienced pretty much everything in that time.. however the other day I ran into something I aint ever seen.. was wondering if somebody can explain this to me..
I bought a large car amplifier.. prob weighs.. maybe 10lbs.. I paid roughly $15 in shipping.. From NJ to NY. It shipped in a small lowes moving box. I would assume seller paid more than $15 given the size and weight of this.. I just so happened to look at the label and it's $6.15?
I expected this price to be via media mail.. but no.. its ground. and this has considerable weight and box was dim weighted.. only thing I can think of is the .10 cubic dim on the box?
I thought USPS checks all this.. I didnt get any COD or anything.. I asked seller and he didnt answer that question. Any body see this before? I just want to understand this..
Thanks much!

The seller entered the wrong dimensions and paid the .10 cubic rate.
That box is 16x12x12 so, assuming USPS APV system audited it in transit, the seller was billed for the difference which is approx $8 including the noncompliance fee.

Likely that there was a charge collected from the seller that lied on that shipping label info.

The seller purchased Ground advantage because amplifiers can’t be shipped media mail. Media mail is for media records audiobooks and sheet music. Not amplifiers.
If the shipping cost more than you paid the seller paid the difference out of his own pocket. He was more than likely billed by USPS for insufficient postage.

Because it was only a zone 3 charge for shipping.
Label was created on 06/20, and today is the 28th, so 8 days, not 12 to arrive.

My bad.. 8 days! I had an issue with a different seller for something else and that was 12... it's late..
No.. I've sold thing to people literally 1 town over.. and shipping was way more than $6.. Zones wouldnt have mattered here. I paid $15, it showed up as $6.. that's not it..

IMO, smart sellers don't show the label cost.

Lol, right! I never do... Usually USPS is very critical and doesn't miss anything esp when it comes to paying them money.. just shocked a big box like this cost $6..

Did you see @wastingtime101 's post 6 above.
The correct shipping price wasn't $6 and the seller likely received a notice from ebay that USPS adjusted the shipping label cost.
But I stand by my opinion that smart sellers choose not to show the actual label cost on the label. Buyers (often) don't under sellers' costs and take offense to being charged handling charges.
