Shipping problems with USPS not updating history on Tracking

Any body having the same problem I have.

USPS is getting lazy scanning packages. Twice this week the USPS Post Office never scanned that they receive it. Then 5 days later, still no updates on eBay, but if you go to USPS.com, all of a sudden the package has reached it's destibation with no other history. I'm having to start claims with USPS and contact my buyers that there may be a delay or lost package.

None of my packages from December 7th onward have had any scanning updates.  I watched a temporary employee, no USPS uniform, scan one of my packages today as I was walking out. My hypothesis is they are not uploading the scans to avoid having poor metrics for their branch.

Yes, same here, I ship them, and then even days later no updating on tracking.  Like they were never even scanned in, or they were, but their system isn't showing it.  Sometimes, they are scanned farther down the chain closer to their destination.

Just a warning, it may not be a good idea to contact your buyers about a delay in advance of your buyer even noticing. If a buyer messages you inquiring than yes you should respond and update them as you can, but why poke that bear if they haven't said anything?

I've had many packages in the past 3 weeks not showing tracking after being accepted at Post Office and now up to 5 cases of USPS following up on items not received. All 5 were from buyers asking about their item - not received by estimated delivery date. In every case I contacted USPS and provided the buyer a case number to show them I'm following up. USPS reps told me that First Class is now taking 7 business days to deliver and Priority up to 5 business days. Got to say all 5 of my customers, though not happy about their item being delayed, were appreciative in my follow-up.  I did refund one buyer - her item mailed Nov 18th and no tracking after the 19th. It finally did get delivered on Dec 8th!  I agree that have your customers contact you but make sure you follow up. Or you could post on your listings that USPS deliveries may take extra time.

Yes, earlier this year I had a group of packages go missing after leaving them on the drop-off counter at my local post office. I've also had several packages that weren't scanned when I requested USPS pick-up. Currently, I'm tracking three packages that made it from my community to the next step but were not scanned again. This also happened earlier this year - I contacted buyers to ask if they received the package, a couple received their package several weeks late. I'm also tracking one that made it to the destination state (CO), but was then sent to CA...evidently it's on its way back to CO.

I've started several lost package claims and talked to the day manager at my local post office often enough he remembers my name and asks how my dogs are doing.

While I understand eBay is trying to help us with our on-time statistics, but it's not enough. Our customers should receive some sort of notice each time they buy that explains the delays to help shield us from what is becoming a significant amount of extra work (which is out of our control).

Same here i have about 6 open cases right now for late deliveries that tge tracking isnt updating on. I just tell all of the customees to start a trace by calling usps and if they declare it lost ill refund there money. Not much else i can do really. Ebay needs to make it at least 2 weeks to start a case for item not delivered.  I have one open now forca package purchased 5 days ago because of the tracking.  I had another customer tell me i was a thief and was trying to steal from them by not sending there package. Fortunately the tracking updated 30 minutes later. But it only went 1 hr away in 8 days according to the tracking. But at least it made them look like idiots for saying i was stealing from them. Thats some karma in action there lol
