I'm looking to ship a large package (its listed local pick up only but I've had many inquiries to ship it) but nobody will ship due to size. Its not really THAT big so I don't get it. Package is 40x26x24 and weights 16lbs, any ideas on how or with what carrier to ship this thing? All the quotes I've tried to get are over $300 at least or the company wont ship it at all. I dont get it, we bought a well tank the other week that was free shipping and came in a bigger box then this. Any help would be appreciated.

UPS is often cheaper than USPS on large packages. Also check Fedex. Over size packages do cost a lot to ship. You might want to keep it pickup only.

The length-plus-girth of your package is 40 + (26 + 24 + 26 + 24) = 140 inches, so it is above the 130-inch limit for shipping via USPS.
The large item you purchased last week might have been purchased from a large shipper who gets special discounts based on the total value of their shipping business.
