Shipping issues with USPS

So has anybody tried shipping via USPS an item such as a used cell phone via priority service as that is the default shipping service with eBay and you arrive at the post office or whatever shipping center and they tell you that you're not allowed to ship out this item due to the fact it contains a lithium ion battery and lithium-ion batteries are not allowed with priority mail services or first class mail services for usps. I even keep trying to call eBay customer service and they say there shouldn't be any problem but USPS had recently changed the regulations for the priority and first class services were various items such as used electronics with lithium ion batteries are not allowed. What do I do? Anyone else have this issue?

This is a new announcement (7/13/22) by USPS; it's on these exact pages under 'announcements'. CSR's are from another country living in that country and are not always UP on the changes that are happening.

Anyway, it's all correct. You can ship it USPS Ground, as it now must ship 'ground' (not in an airplane). Selling cost is a few pennies less for ground (if USPS Priority is $10.80, USPS Ground is $10.15...as example).

Simply get a new label using 'ground'; and 'void' the other label, which you will be refunded for in about a month.

Items that contain Lithium batteries can't be shipped with USPS you must use USPS or UPS ground for that. eBay recently posted about this inthe announcements on the 13th of this month. It falls under  hazardous Materials

Customer service is clueless about policies.

You may be able to ship Parcel Select (ground service) using an online label, any applying appropriate markings/warnings on the box. Same goes for shipping Retail Ground at the Post Office

I don't mind utilizing ground services or anything like that but I'm trying to ship this item internationally and the only option it gives me is USPS priority service. Is there any other thing I can do because I'm just trying for it to show up on eBay and that I'm delivering this item.

Would you happen to know how to go about doing so utilizing international services because I'm trying to ship this item out to spain?

But would you happen to know how to do this utilizing the eBay international standard service? I'm trying to ship this item out to Spain.

I should also mention that I'm trying to ship out a phone via eBay international standard service and I don't know where to find to switch it over to ground services because the only label to give me is for usps priority service

Don't ship a $500 phone to another country. Usually with new sellers and expensive phones, you will wind up with a 'return' being opened, and the money taken from you to refund, even if the buyer sends you back an old phone, empty envelope, a yo-yo...doesn't matter. You will have huge issues.

Sell local (US) Only and then you only have about a 30% chance of getting scammed. Overseas, probably 90% chance.

Cancel the order; take the hit and relist with US only buyers (no international shipping).

Besides all that; you never input a dollar amount for an international buyer to purchase and pay the shipping costs.

So, what I read at USPS..........................  the way I read it the change would apply to .............. preowned  if they are   damaged, or defective items, but I guess that is not what it means.  It's what it says, but not what it means :), or is it?

Riddle me this..................    So a new phone with a lithium battery can "fly", but a pre-owned phone with battery can not?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

rule restricts the mail class that may be utilized when shipping pre-owned, damaged or defective electronic devices containing or packaged with lithium batteries

I guess so. Just really sucks. Also, somebody mentioned don't even bother trying to ship this phone if it's at least worth $500 because it'll just have a hard time getting over there in the first place. Sold the phone for $496 and this is the second time I'm going to have to cancel this order and refund.

I think it's the fact that when a seller 'sells' a used phone, nobody can be sure if it is damaged (even internally) or not, so they aren't penalizing 'used' phones' but they are more 'giving an exception' to new phones because we all know they won't explode (samsung anyone?)
