Shipping issues, missing mail, and the aftermath of the holidays...

So like many many others out there im being hit left right and center with MISSING MAIL! Yes you heard that right I have 3 items sold and 1 purchase that have magically gone missing between December 11th-Dec 31st. Now I have called ebay and they are adjusting seller ratings because of this issue. My fear was not just the missing product and money but the HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS, spent filing claims, and waiting on hold on the phone with the post and all those wonderful headaches. Who here is feeling this pain with me? Im curious how are you handling your customers? Ive written books after some pushback with customers that I have done EVERYTHING I can do on my end to satisfy them. Any suggestions out there? I think i just wanted to vent more than anything honestly.

Re: Shipping issues, missing mail, and the aftermath of the holidays...

If a package doe not have any movement in 5 days and is already late in transit, I place a complaint into the USPS.  There is no one at the USPS that can actually solve your problem, It at least requires the Postmaster at the destination to reply to your inquiry. Then the USPS sends you a follow up survey on how you feel about how the complaint was resolved and your opinion of the USPS. Most of the time I reply that I am generally dissatisfied with the service of the USPS. The USPS takes these surveys very seriously.  Maybe if they get enough of them, the USPS will finally try to fix the problems.

Re: Shipping issues, missing mail, and the aftermath of the holidays...

Problems can sit with the buyer's local post office. My post office held onto 4 packages for 3 days without delivering them to me. Then on Monday it was raining hard so I guess the workers needed another break and never delivered the mail they showed on their site - it included my stimulus check so I was concerned. Well the next day was sunny so it showed up along with Tuesday's mail too. Wouldn't want the poor workers to get wet.

Last week we had had a dusting of snow over night it had rained and turned to snow. I headed up my first road (unpaved) it looked just like mud and rutted, I am in 4 wheel high and all of a sudden I am totally sideways, I pulled out of the slide and made it to the top, delivered the boxes there put it in 4 low and rode the slim margine of grass on the side of the road down. I skipped going up to the Amish place on a little side road and hit the next 2 boxes without trouble. At this point the road changes to pavement and the descent gets steeper and there is no berm at all. Going down I started to slide again (yes even in 4 low), Thankfully getting past BARELY where there is a steep drop off. I managed to get stopped for the next box but had to open the door and reach for the mailbox. The following mailbox  is a friends and she is a retired mailcarrier. It is a very difficult area, road curves sharply and is slanted (I didn't even try to get to it and stayed uphil from the box. Tried to stop at the next 2 but even at around 5 MPH I slid right past.

Delivering the rest of the morning went on much the same. I slid off the road and managed to work myself out 4 times. The 5th though I had to call for a tow trucks help.  It took an hour and a half to arrive. HE SLID RIGHT PAST ME !!! But when he got stopped he did manage with several buckets of cinders and pushing from behind he got me going again ($80 on my credit card for that and NO the post office doesn't pay for towing or pushing). At this point I am running EXTREEMLY late but the good news was that Rachael our sub had been working in another office delivering their AUX route and was finishing up. She met me and took half of what I had left. We both got back to the Post Office at 5:30, according to my route evaluation I should start the route at 7:30 and finish at 3:30. I have not started later than 6:30 since last March and neither have any of our carriers.

Oh yeah, and that day I had to leave around 6 packages at the Post Office because I just couldn't fit them all in the Jeep.

Well Biden said that ANYONE who doesn't feel safe at work can get unemployment. If I was a Postal worker I would take that offer. In fact I wish all the postal workers would do just that and then maybe the USPS would totally crash. Then the people in Washington DC would really have to do their job for a change. Congress talks and talks but never gets much done. I think it would be best for the nation if members of Congress feel unsafe at their job that they also take Joe up on his offer. Things could not be any worse. It is not the USPS worker fault and they are being abused. The USPS is not a business but a service that the economy of the US depends upon. The USPS should get the funding it needs to do the job asked. Lets not forget the more than 500,000 postal worker give back more than 6 billion dollars in federal taxes every year and probably billions more in State taxes etc. So in reality the US government is taking money in because of the USPS so if you think about it those terms the USPS is actually making money for the government.

That wouldn't fly with the Post Office. We are considered essential workers, infact we each have a paper that declares this incase we are stopped during a lock down or level 3 weather when everyone is supposed to stay off the roads.
