Shipping blindly switching payment source.

I know ebay does not care and will deny it happens however, I am checking to see if anyone else has their payment method switch from managed payment back to paypal without actually switching it yourself or any notice?

Thanks

@usmediamass

Are you saying that you manually made the switch to pay for shipping labels

from Paypal

to your MP funds

and it later mysteriously switched back to Paypal?

@usmediamass   No, have NOT seen that glitch yet but then I don't check every single time I print a label.  But then I gutted my PayPal account so there is not enough $$ in it to cover labels LOL!  I also have NO back up payment method set, you should check that on your MP account.

I thought the switch to use 'Pending' payments for shipping became your new default... but you could change it back at will. So, no... I've never heard of  that happening without your input.

I have a zero PayPal balance and my labels are debited from my bank account, so I have no actual experience with it.

eBay is taking shipping costs out of "Available" payments, not Pending.  Tricky of them.  I am on Weekly Payouts so have learned that any sales I don't plan to ship until Tuesday I always WAIT to print the shipping label until AFTER they have sent the Payout message ...

It seems all the MP decisions are to eBay's advantage, huh?!?

They do the same thing with partial refunds for excess shipping paid.

They cover the refund using available funds from previous sales (first),

before using pending funds from the sale related to the refund.

I tried this morning to purchase a label and it would not allow me to. Had an emergency with my dog so when I got back home this afternoon I tried again and it still would not let me purchase the label. Frustrated since I am in managed payments and I have a back up payment for those times there is not enough funds. Finally scrolled down on the label window and find that it says I have insufficient funds in my account and only way for me to purchase a label was to switch to my Paypal account. I will have to remember to switch back next time getting a label. This should have never happened since All my listings are free shipping and I have 2 ways of paying for any fees and labels. Can anyone explain why this happend?

Well, it sure is. All of a sudden, I'm glad that I've had no experience with them. Lucky me, I guess. ðŸ™„

If you have a "Back up" payment method they "should" default to that ... but as you say, if there is not enough $$ to cover the cost in your main or back up payment methods then you are out of luck.

Free or Calculated shipping really has nothing to do with paying for shipping labels ... those are simply settings Buyers see on your listings.  But what's confusing is that they are not showing you a negative number in your Available payout amount if you have Pending funds from a sale.  THAT is what I have seen.  Right after a Payout and before more money is transferred from Pending to Available I have seen the Available balance as a negative number until Pending funds are switched to Available ...
