Shipping and getting charged undercharges HELP

So, I used to sell on Ebay back in 2000 but now it is a different system, and I cannot get a handle on shipping. I have been trying to ship with a flat rate; however, I am getting a lot of undercharges. I need to go in and correct ALL of my current active listings but I am not sure of what to do. When you list, do you pack the item right then and do shipping.  I know most of my policies are not correct but how can I correct them all at once, or do I need to do each one individually?  HELP

You don't have to prepack, but you do need to know what size box you'll be using and what it's going to weigh when you get the item packed.

Enter your weights and dimensions in the listing and use calculated shipping.

If you enter package weight and dimensions on your listings, after that you can do a bulk update and change listings en masse to calculated shipping. As long as your weight and dimensions are accurate, buyers won't underpay postage. If you increase the size or weight of box when it's time to ship (compared to what you entered on the listing), that can impact ship cost.

Do you mean that after you ship you are being billed for more $$ ?

Flat rate shipping means you offer everyone the same price regardless of the actual cost.  The PO however will ship according to the real calculated price, not some figure you came up with.  Of course they will collect the extra money you owe as a cost adjustment to shipping labels.  To prevent this you have to use calculated shipping.  When you list the item you put in the box measurements and weight, that's it.  Any computer will automatically figure out (compute) the shipping to every potential buyer's zipcode.

Struggling. I put an item on eBay to sell so then I measure the item and put it in a box. Then I am supposed to add the  measurements into the calculated shipping? How do you know where the item is going? Doesn’t that affect the shipping?

calculated shipping is just that. Calculated based on the info you provide when listing. 

You put that info in when listing, not when getting ready to actually ship the item after it is sold.

As toysaver stated....................it calculates the cost based upon your accurate (or inaccurate) info that you put in the listing, (shipping size and weight) and the destination inputted by the buyer when they purchase.

The info that you put in the listing as to size and weight will be shown when you go to the page to purchase a label. Your buyer will have paid "calculated" shipping based upon the data that you provided. You can reconfirm those values, and change any if needed. Changing at that point will not change how much the buyer pays. It only determines how much you will pay for the label.

When you set up a listing with calculated shipping cost (based on package weight and dimensions), eBay does the calculating for you.  The listing will automatically show the correct postage cost from your ZIP Code to the ZIP Code of any member who looks at your listing. When a seller looks at their own listing, they see the cost to ship to their own ZIP Cod (even after the item is Sold).

You don't measure the item itself, you measure the box it is in and weigh that.  Those are the figures to add for calculated shipping.  You don't need to know where it's going.  Every computer that is online is registered with a zip code or postal code depending on the country.   Everything you list will show a shipping price automatically calculated from 37341 to whatever zip code is registered to the buyer's computer.  This is the basic feat all computers do, calculate math, compute numbers.

The shipping calculator in eBay listings uses the ZIP Code for the eBay member's primary eBay address, regardless of their computer registration or actual location.  

For instance, if I am visiting a friend in another state and I sign into my eBay account using their computer, the eBay listings that I look at that have calculated shipping will still show the postage cost to my home address, unless I adjust my settings.
