I'm really puzzled by this, I even called eBay about it , of course the guy there didn't fully understand my problem.
I just printed a label for a 2 pounds book ( actaul weight 1 and half ) measure 9x6x2 so I was expecting usual charge of 5.38 but label printed 5.22
Skeptical of sending it out since P.O. likes to claim I sent 2 books overweight ( wrong I use electronic scale and keep everything under by a little I even weight the3 package after the labels are affixed to ensure I'm correct )
So now I went and canceled the label hoping to see the familiar 5.38 but no matter what I tried result was same 5.22...what exac tly I'm doing wrong? ...or is eBay feeling benevolent just for me and give me a break!? ( ya, right! )

I even asked the eBay guy if he knew about any changes , i guess they keep thing comparmentilized there, the guy knew nothing about it and he works there! I feel foolish now, I'm guessing there was some kind of announcement but as usual I'm the last one to know!
Thanks for reply, now I hope P.O. will reimburse me for canceled label, I don't trust 'dem guys no more! 😞
Twice they dinged me for underweight labels and both time they were WRONG!!!!

You should never be caught off guard: USPS changes rates every January and July like clockwork. They also implement a peak season surcharge from Sept/Oct-ish effective until the price change in Jan.
Jan price changes are generally proposed in Oct, and July changes are proposed in April.

You're more apt to get accurate answers to questions and better advice on handling whatever issues arise by posting on the boards rather than dealing with customer service.

Yep. Rates for Media Mail did drop. I had a shipment tonight, was also getting a lower price. Kinda nice.
But I looked at GA while I was doing my label. That definitely went up. For the past few weeks, many of my bluray sales have been mixed bag of either Media Mail or Ground Advantage, because the eBay discounted price sometimes was less than the Media Mail price, and obviously I'm going to use the lowest cost option since I ship my media with free shipping.
Now I doubt I will be using GA for any of the media sales for a while, unless its a large order.
But don't forget! Media Mail is ONLY for licensed media items. Studio created music, movies, shows, books, etc. Vinyl, tape, optical, etc.
I hear about people using it to ship all kinds of stuff. Problem is, if USPS catches a package using it for anything other than its intended use, they can seize the package if they want. Or charge the appropriate cost either back to the sender or the postee.
