Shipping Label

I had a buyer who wanted to email me a pre-paid UPS label and just pay for the item. How do I know if the label is legitimate and has anyone had this happen? Is so, what did you do?

Thank you.

Well... were it me, I'd not let a buyer dictate the terms of the sale. Good luck to you, however you proceed.

Yea I wouldn’t agree to it. I have a streamlined set method to process my orders and I prefer to not give the buyer control of the package and transit. Doesn’t matter how legit it might be.

There’s too many variables there that can go wrong. You can tell the buyer that the only way you can ensure safe delivery to them is if you follow your own tried and true methods.

Never  had it happen to me BUT don't do it as eBay makes the seller responsible for getting delivered to the buyer.   You control your own destiny.

Thank you. My thoughts were it’s trouble.  So I declined the offer.

Thank you for your response. I politely declined. It just didn’t feel right.

It isn't. What that does is give the buyer the ability to redirect the shipment elsewhere, after which he files an Item Not Received dispute. Because the item does not show as Delivered to the City and ZIP of the Ship-To: address you received with the payment, you end up having to refund in full.

P.S. On a less-scammy note, perhaps, there have also been reports of buyers using their office UPS accounts in order to avoid paying Shipping charges on the eBay purchase. However, if the company refuses to pay the charge, UPS may go after the seller/shipper to collect. Best to just avoid all the nasty possibilities by keeping the shipping under your own control.

Thank you very much for more insight. I’m still new to Ebay and I’m learning but this just didn’t seem right.
