I just recently started selling on eBay and have been using eBay labels. I have heard and seen other 3rd party shipping label providers and am wondering if anyone uses them. Give me your experience with using other shipping label providers, do you use them all the time, just for certain orders, etc. I have heard you can also use PayPal.
*Side question: What a good website to buy postage at home? Like if I wanted to ship a package to an address for personal reasons, not a eBay sale. To try and save money since postage online is cheaper than retail USPS.

Most of the other postage providers charge the same prices as eBay, i.e., the published USPS "Commercial" rates. Some offer specific services not available through eBay. IIRC Pirateship offers cubic pricing.
For personal shipping, you can purchase postage at online rates through PayPal at

Stamps.com costs money to use. So there goes the discount!
PirateShip is free. They have an alternative way to calculate shipping: USPS Priority Mail Cubic which is often cheaper than the Commercial pricing eBay or PayPal offers. Sometimes the cost is the same. If you link your eBay Seller account to PS transactions are loaded in PS and once labels are created the info is fed back into eBay. So no need to copy the Tracking Number and paste it into eBay - it works automatically.
Plus if you sell something from your web store you can still get the PS discount. I also use it when sending a sweater to Aunt Millie in Palatine - enjoy the PS savings for just regular shipping not business related.
Web interface appears to be well thought out, user friendly and even injects a bit of jocularity.
