Shipping Label Charges

I'm hoping someone can explain the new "Payment" listing on the order details of each sale.  I pay for my shipping label through Paypal, but I still see where Ebay is charging me for the shipping label again.  I periodically transfer money from my bank to Paypal and I receive a monthly statement from Paypal showing they have transferred the money for each shipping label to Ebay.  I feel like I'm getting charged twice!  Any help is appreciated.

Your customer pays you for the shipping, so that money rests in eBay.

You buy a label from Paypal. Does Paypal then essentially "bill" eBay for the label. eBay transfers the money to Paypal. If so, then you have one charge on Paypal which goes to the post office. Then one charge on eBay which goes to Paypal. i.e. your left pocket to your right pocket.

you said: I receive a monthly statement from Paypal showing they have transferred the money for each shipping label to Ebay. No, Paypal sends that money to the post office.

One would need to see exactly all these transactions to give you a meaningful answer. When you pay with paypal, are you sure you are using your cash balance you have with paypal and not ebay? It can be chaotic but I doubt, that you are being charged twice. What matters is the overall Paypal and/or ebay balance. That's what you need to keep an eye on..

BTW, why don't you use your CC  via Paypal? Many CC offer 1.5% cash back. Over time, you can earn enough to be few shipping labels, courtesy your CC company. Many cards offer 5% every three months for different vendors. Chase recently offered 5% cash back when using paypal.

When I use my credit card to pay through PP, I get charged 3% of the total, so I've never understood why the 1.5% back is an appealing offer.

The PayPal 3% charge is only when someone pays you, not when you pay someone else, and has nothing to do with whether a credit card is used or not.

If you're paying for your shipping labels through Pay Pal, where are you seeing that Ebay is also charging you?

Have a great day.

On the new Order Details - it now shows "what you earned" by listed the charges which include transaction feeds and shipping label

Shipping Label Charges

I have been selling on Ebay for a very long time and I'm just now noticing the same thing with shipping charges.  Just last week I noticed on the order details page that Ebay took a shipping label fee out of my total and then again on my Paypal Card there was another fee for the exact same amount as the shipping label fee.

It appears to be double dipping but I'm sure it's not , well al least I hope....

Now that I have gone back through a few months invoices I'm noticing this happening all over the place.

My 2% Cash Back Paypal Card gets charged a few days after Ebay takes the money for shipping.

I'm contacting Ebay today, 2/5/2024 to see what's going on.

You're misinterpreting the data you're seeing @53chevydog .

The first screenshot shows the order details page. The ship label cost is shown because you bought the label through eBay. It's displayed to help you see your "order earnings"; it does not indicate a charge.

Since you paid for it through PayPal you should not see that label cost charged on your eBay transactions here: https://www.ebay.com/mes/transactionlist?sh=true

But if I do the math and subtract the tax, fees and shipping label that matches what Ebay sent me as a payout.

As I said, check your payment transactions here:  https://www.ebay.com/mes/transactionlist?sh=true

If you were charged for the shipping label through eBay you will see it on that page. You can expand transaction details and payout details to get more info. If there's an error, report it to CS.

I just looked at the other details page and do notice a different amount under net proceeds, which now makes since as long as that's what is sent to my payment account

Figured it out, it makes since now using the other transactions page.

Thank you, much appreciated
