I shipped out a New GM Aluminum Transfer case a couple weeks ago. Lo and behold, it got damaged in shipping with UPS. It was multiple boxed, with reinforcements, supports to hold it in place, etc.
I purchased the Label through PirateShip with the InsureShield Insurance they offer ($1 per $100 in coverage) and Signature Confirmation (Order was $963 with Tax)
The buyer contacts me with photos of the broken pieces, but his coworker had already thrown out the box on Friday before unwrapping the transfer case on Monday and finding the damage.
1/12 - Filed the damage claim, but was not hopeful as they did not have any photos of damaged box, which is usually needed to 'win' the claim, just photos of the part itself.
1/21 - UPS Paid out the full claim, with reimbursement on shipping cost.
I know some sellers think Insurance is a waste and you never win, but 9 days for a thousand dollar claim is pretty impressive. I have heard that Insureshield is more reliable than a standard Carrier Insurance claim (whether that is actually true, I do not know). However, it is also cheaper. Just some food for thought.
