Dimensions would help. Will it fit in a 16x12x8 eBay Box? You don't want Length X Width X Height to be over 1728 or you will run into USPS Dimensional Rate Rates that can cause the postage cost to skyrocket. Cut a custom box if needed.

If you have any plastic large envelopes or bags like you might get from another online retailer you can use that. You might need 2 and tape them together.
Another idea is a large heavy duty plastic bag from a retail store. Like a sturdy one that doesnt rip easy. Use 2 if needed and double bag. Secure corners well. Cut to size needed.
Same with a box. If you dont have a thin longer box then score one down to size that is long or take 2 thin but small boxes and tape together to fit.
To score down a too tall box use a pair of scissors or knife. Do not cut. Run it along the inside where you need it to fold over. Make that line and bam it folds right over.

Depends on the dimensions/weight. Every backpack I've shipped has been heavy enough that I just stuck it in a USPS priority box.

I've shipped that exact case before. I like to put them in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box. And I don't think that it liked to be folded... but it can 'bow' in the box, if you know what I mean. Priority, of course.
