Go to the USPS Website, Login (or create an account), go to Help (upper right), click "Find Missing Mail", upload the tracking number, fill out the forms (about 3 forms, one is re-writing your own address), and click send.  That will go to the post office that services the address the item is shipped to and they will do an "extensive" search.  Most of the time after filing out that form and sending it, packages suddenly appear, I've found.  If it is in the USPS' possession, the finding missing mail option usually finds it.  Good Luck!

@kinghenrylll   The very first thing I would do is message the Buyer and advise them that you will process a Missing Mail piece for the shipment, then go to USPS and do just that.  This may shake the item loose int he USPS system, it has for me.  If the Buyer processes an Item not received claim you will have 4 days to produce the item or basically forfeit the money AND the item even if it is eventually delivered.

If the Buyer gets pushy then advise them on eBay Policy, that is to process the Item not received claim and wait 4 days.  You can upload tracking to the claim but I would do the Missing Mail piece first and see if the tracking starts to show movement.

Filing a missing mail claim with USPS will show up when the buyer clicks on the tracking number in their purchase history.  You can sometimes buy some time when the buyer sees you are going to bat for them.

Opening a Package Research case is the next move, but don't be deluded that that is you going to bat for the buyer: A seller is responsible for the shipment until it is delivered, so you're on the hook.

First Class no longer is expected to be a 2-3 day journey.  Go ahead and do the find my missing mail route and send the buyer all the info.  Sometimes just initiating the hunt leads to a scan and hopefully delivery.  Communication with the buyer is key.
