A customer purchased a product today and I realized that this customer lives fairly close. I was wondering if I am allowed to deliver the package myself? I will be taking the subway, so the cost to and back will be quite close to the shipping cost.
If it is allowed, do I just set the product to "marked as shipping"?

Hmm. That's a tough one.

I would only do it if buyer paid cash.

I've had a local lady who has purchased my items and she always INSISTS on picking the items up herself. For me (the seller) it was a real pain. I want to ship items and not be bothered with face to face contact with my buyers. I did have a buyer a few years ago who insisted on picking the item up BUT then asked me to meet her half way~~I stupidly agreed and had to wait over 1/2 hour for her to show up. Even though it was a free shipping item she refused to pay the whole amount because I didn't ship it.
What if you take the subway and get delayed and then the buyer isn't home when you get there? What if they don't want the item once they see it? It's best to just mail it and not deal with a personal contact with the buyer. Selling is complicated enough without making it more complicated by offering delivery of the item.

Just put it in the mail and be done with it.
As a buyer I would be pretty angry if a seller showed up at my house.

I had an instance where I actually drove by the customer house on the way to the PO. I still shipped it, it's safer to have a record.

you can deliver it yourself and have them sign a receipt for the item OR take a picture of it delivered at the ship to address.
if you are in doubt about your customer just don't sell then the item if they are sketchy.

First ... this is a very old post ... If you want to discuss this topic, please start a new thread.
Second ...
