Hi everyone,
I've been using Ebay for years with only positive experiences... until now.
I've just bought an item in the US- the seller offered international shipping so I bought the item with shipping to Australia. Both my Ebay and Paypal address are the same address in Australia.
But the seller has just emailed me to say:
"So, just getting back from taking my mother in law to the hospital, checking the rules, I must send this to the address you checked out with, which is the one in Kentucky, specifically: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It will be shipped out later today."
However this is definitely not the address I checked out with. Both the Ebay and Paypal transactions show the address in Australia. What's more weird is that the address in Kentucky is not listed in my Ebay or Paypal addresses at all... it's an address I used once in the past but have not kept anywhere.
Ive told him that the Kentucky address is a business that doesn't exist anymore and I fear that the item will be lost but haven't heard anything back from him.
So how was he able to see an old address that's not in my address book? And is the seller allowed to pick and choose which address they send to?
I thought it would be a cut and dry case that they have to send to the address on the Ebay / Paypal receipt.
Does anyone have a suggestion for what I should do next?
Cheers, Dom.

Hello, the seller uses GSP to ship outside the US.
GSP a in KY. The seller will ship the item there and then GSP will do all the documentation and send it to you.
It is not a problem it is the way the system works.

Does anyone else not find it odd that the seller in this case did not realize the address was that of the GSP in Erlanger, KY?
Or that, if he did realize it, why would he not explain that to the buyer?

"So, just getting back from taking my mother in law to the hospital,"
He's either giddy and overjoyed or stressed beyond normal, depends on the family...

Yes I think you're right- I'm guessing he was as confused as I was.
I figure that telling me about his mother in law was to show that he's under a bit of stress....
I do find it strange that the Global Shipping Program postage address isn't better explained- I'm sure that we're not the first one to be caught out by it...
Anyway all sorted now- good to learn something either way. Thanks for your help everyone- it's very much appreciated.
