I purchased gifts for two of my friends, however upon the arrival of the items, both of them told me the items were counterfeits. I know that the selling of counterfeit items on eBay is totally against the rules. Looking back at the original post, I now clearly see that even the pictured item is of a counterfeit, and a simple Google image search or video review of the actual item is enough to compare. I brought it up to the seller, and he did offer me a return, but seeing as these items were gifts and are clearly unauthentic, I would not like to return them. I told him I didn't want to return them because they are unauthentic, and would even leave positive feedback to avoid harming his rating if he were to refund me. His response was that he'll "stand by the authenticity" of his items, and that I should get eBay involved. I see in eBay's Money Back Guarantee that counterfeit items have the potential to receive a refund without return, and this is what I want. What would be the best way to go about this?
Below are photos of the listing's image (1), the item sent/received (2), and also photos of the authentic item (3 & 4).
As you can see, the knives listed/sold do not have any wording on either side of the blade, while the authentic version says "AUS8" on one side, and "QUIETCARRY" on the other. On the handle, the four dots above the word Supreme should be red indents, not full on holes that expose the silver of the blade. On the other side of the handle where the indents are below the word Supreme, the second indent should be completely inside of the P; this specific indent should also be completely white, not red like the rest of the indents. He has the brand of the item listed as Supreme, which is a lie because this item is unauthentic.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can provide help with this situation.

I would return them for a refund.

Sorry but you can't just keep the items and get your money back. Just return for a refund...if your friends told you they were fake, they shouldn't have a problem giving them back to you..

My ebay > Purchase history > More actions > Return this item
Depending on the reason, determines who pays return shipping. For an item not as described the seller pays return shipping. A prepaid shipping label is provided. Print out the label, affix it to the package, take it to the post office. Have the clerk SCAN the label. When the package shows DELIVERED back to the seller, the seller has 2 business days to refund you. If no refund, you click the link to Ask ebay to step in to force the refund.
It's possible if the seller does not want to pay for return shipping that they might just refund you without requiring you to return the item. If you get no response after filing, click the link to Ask ebay to step in.

From the original post:

The seller clearly wants the items back. He doesn't want this buyer to have the items and the money.

Start the return requests @chibitrunks using the reason I want to close my account:
Either your seller will
- issue return labels, or
- accept the return but not issue return labels,
Or you'll have to click Ask eBay to step in after 2 (seller only accepted) or 3 (seller ignored) business days and eBay will
- issue return labels, or
- refund without requiring a return.
Then email the return labels to your friends, as your seller needs them back to be sold again. Wait until after you get your refunds before leaving feedback.

Why do want to keep them if you think they are fake? Return them to the seller.

If the seller is savvy at all, he is going to require you to return them to get a refund. Whether the are fakes or not, ebay has no way of determining who is correct. EBay will default to "Return for Refund". That's going to be your only option if you want your money back. Beyond that if the seller is experienced, he's not worried about feedback either now since you said you would leave a positive if you get a refund (feedback extortion). If you leave a negative, he will most likely get it removed.

While eBay has the policy that they won’t require returns on counterfeit items that very rarely happens. They will likely require you return the item.
