So I received my item in a state not as photographed, it was a guitar pedal in a wooden collectors box. Box/items inside came in broken as it was packaged with 3 pieces of bubble wrap haha. So I ask for my refund which was instantly given back on accident after not even being shipped back and case was closed. I've contacted eBay and they just told me to try to get him to send a label from outside of eBay. The seller wants me to front the shipping(I''ll pay you back for shipping). Last response was along the lines of ship it back I don't want to message you again and hasn't even sent a return address. I want to get this person the pedal back but they are absolutely making it difficult. If the case is closed can I get my refund for fronting shipping?

The seller's customer service skills are as poor as his packaging skills. You are not obliged to return the item, so you can either throw it away or else hang onto it in case he decides to pay for the return shipping.
If you have the original package, that would have the seller's name and address on the label. But if you just ship the item, you will not get shipping money from eBay and probably not from the seller either.

Once the case is closed you can't (and eBay won't) force the seller to pay for return shipping, and the seller can't force you to send it back.
What you do with it now is up to you.

If they are unwilling to send you a prepaid shipping label then they must not want it back.

They did instantly refund the seller. So that should count for something. When you buy anything you don't pick up in person there's always the possibility it will arrive broken or not as described or not at all and you have to get a refund and keep looking. That's inherent when you buy online.
@alric_chris Give the seller your email address and tell them to send return shipping money or go to paypalshipnow and send you a return label if they want it back. Leave the ball in their court. If they don't respond with a label or return money upfront then don't worry about it. Toss it or fix it.
