Back up.

Are you the buyer or seller?

A seller cannot close a return unless they refund you.

If you are the seller and the buyer closed the return you don't do anything the matter is closed on ebay.

Ok. I got the camera. I am the buyer. The camera has a scratch on the lens. When clicking return I might of clicked the wrong button because I thought I was going to get my money back like every other sale I was not satisfied with. I sent in the request as it didnt fit or something. I didnt see any button that said not as described. Then she closed the request I didnt mean to pick the wrong button. She basically screwed me. I found a page where an agent can call me so hopefully I can fix this. I really am not in the wrong. I hope this can be fixed I cant even resell a camera with a scratch on the main lens.

When you were opening the return request there were 3 possible options that would have fit the issues your describing,

Doesn't work or defective

Doesn't match description or photos

Arrived damaged

I'm not sure how you missed all 3 of those, next time  be more careful. Now you will have to try to reach an ebay rep who will allow you to change the type of return you opened. Your only other option is a PP claim or CC chargeback, but you will be responsible for return shipping fees, so I would speak to ebay first.

@thedollcollectorx

OK thanks for the additional detail!  Now we can give advice.

Sellers can have 3 types of return policies: No returns, Buyer Pays Return and 30+ day returns (seller pays shipping).  It sounds like this seller had a "no returns' policy.  When a seller has a 'No returns' policy they can refuse a return if it is for "remorse" reasons.  Those are the reasons for the return that the buyer selects in the process as shown here:

Screen Shot 2021-02-18 at 11.24.16 PM.png

At times eBay does make it difficult to find the NAD reasons.

Now if the seller has a "no returns" policy or any return policy, when the buyer selects a NAD reason then the seller is required to pay return shipping and refund or just refund the buyer.

So I am guessing your seller had a 'no returns' policy and you selected a "remorse" reason for the return.  That is the only situation where a seller can refuse a return.  So it looks like you messed up!.  Oh don't worry, it happens all ofthe time!  The return process can be a bit complex, so you are not alone.

What you need to do is contact eBay through Social Media and ask to file an "appeal".  Mention that you got confused with the return process and made a mistake and selected a remorse reason.  The camera lens has  a scratch on it ( provide a picture) and you should have filed a 'not as described' case for item arriving damaged or not as listed.  Ask if they will kindly reopen the case as a NAD case and you will be very happy to return the item to the seller when they provide a prepaid label.  Mention that you'd like a refund once the seller gets the item back.  if you present enough evidence and a clear and concise case, the perhaps eBay CS will help yuo out!

You can contact eBay via social media with a private message:
https://Facebook.com/ebay
https://Twitter.com/askebay
http://www.ebay.com/ios
http://www.ebay.com/android

Do this FIRST and as soon as possible.  Now IF that fails, Step 2 is either Paypal or CC.  If you used PayPal in the transaction, you can file a NAD case with PP.  Two important points - DO NOT try to open a PP case while you are working with eBay.  Doing so will IMMEDIATELY end any possible solution with eBay and they are the most buyer friendly - so you want to appeal there & hopefully win.  Second PP will require you to pay for return shipping in the NAD case.  So see why you want to do eBay first and hope it works?  Now there IS some program you could sign up with with PP where they give you $30/year in free return shipping.  UT you have to sign up for that BEFORE you try to open any PP case.

If you didn't use PP in the translation and the eBay option has been played out & fail, then you need to contact your Credit Card (CC) company and ask to file a "charge back" against the seller - you received damaged item that was not as described in the eBay listing.

So I hope this long explanation shows how to proceed from here!  With perseverance you should be able to get your money back!

Let us know how it goes and please feel free to ask any additional questions!

But if you look 4 of those negs are now unregistered accounts. It seems Sean was just having a bad period choosing the wrong sellers.

Exactly!  Learning "how to" shop on eBay is another thing that eBay should 'teach'.

So much more than price:

  • read listing and look at pictures in detail
  • determine where item is located and the estimated delivery date (EDD), can you wait that long
  • Is the EDD close to or over 60-days - avoid, ebay records get scrubbed at 60-days
  • research the seller:

                     * Look at overall Feedback score

                     * Read feedback received as a seller

                     * Notice IF and how seller responds to bad FB, professionally? Rude?

  • if in doubt about anything, message the seller

                      * Do they respond at all?  within 24-hrs?

                      * Are they snarky or pizzed off from a "simple" question

                      * Do they seem like the kind of person that will be helpful IF there is a problem

                      * Do they immediately add you to their Blocked Buyers List because you had the audacity to ask.

So it DOES take some time to shop here if one vets the situation properly.
