Hi, I recently returned an item for a refund but when the item shipped back to the seller, USPS wasn't able to deliver due to the seller not being home. eBay says that the package must be marked as delivered in tracking in order to give me a refund. What would happen if the seller doesn't receive or pick up the package and it ships back to me after the post office holds it too long?

You would get a refund.

eBay considers an attempted delivery to be equivalent to actual delivery. But , the situation you note above is common, and the package will likely get delivered.
If it doesn't, the return will eventually become a "case", and you can argue in the case that the seller did not accomodate reception of the return package. The case will close, and you would be refunded.
