This is the first time this has happened to me. I paid $67.01 for my item.
$52 for the item.
$9.90 for shipping.
About $6 for tax.
One refund amount says $52, and then the other one says I have a total refund for $56.
I'm just confused between the two, and either way, the seller should be refunding me the entire $67.01 right?
Thank you.

I'm guessing if he doesn't refund the full amount, eBay will cover it right?
No, there's no action pending from eBay.
First, try an "I haven't received it" case at eBay here. Click "I want a refund" then Submit. If you don't get the rest of your refund in 3 business days, come back and click Ask eBay to step in.
But if that doesn't work, file an Item Not Received dispute at PayPal here. Next, at the bottom of the page. click Escalate to PayPal. Then wait for PayPal to issue the rest of your refund.

Did the seller offer you a partial refund? Are you returning the item?

That receipt looks like you had more than one item.
Did you order something else for $10.72 and $4.29 for Tax and Shipping?

No. He cancelled the item shortly after I purchased it for $67. He said he didn't know it would charge me right away and offered me the refund above. It's not the full $67 though, unless the rest comes from eBay.

Sorry, misread your title. Yes you should get a full refund it item was cancelled before it was shipped.

Nope. That's why I'm so confused lol. It was a bid for one item at $52. Total was $67. I only got refunded the $52, but the other refund receipt shows $56.
Also, eBay hasn't recognized it as the seller cancelling yet, even though the eBay message says seller cancelled/out of stock.

I am thinking the seller cancelled the sale using 'buyer requested' or 'problem with address' so they could avoid a defect.
This is not right, and the full amount must be refunded if this is indeed the case, and you had nothing at all to do with the cancellation.
I am not sure how you go about getting the balance, so hopefully someone else can help with that.

You have a good point. Maybe they refunded their part and are expecting eBay to refund their part. I would think it should have all been done in one transaction. The eBay fee on $67.00 would be $8.71, how much was your tax? Did your refund come thru eBay or did they refund you a different way?

From the OP "eBay message says seller cancelled/out of stock."
It was a honorable cancel and seller will get a Defect.

Refund came from the seller, but I'm still out $11. I'm guessing if he doesn't refund the full amount, eBay will cover it right?

I am not sure what the seller did. When I cancelled a order from a buyer it was instantly deducted from my eBay account, the full amount and sent to the buyer.
If it does not correct on its own you may need to call eBay.

The first photo shows an asterisk next to refund amount.....does your screen show what the asterisk is for? The tax may come from eBay separately, but I am curious about the shipping not being refunded from the seller immediately. I wonder if maybe they have their shipping charged from pending payouts and it has to process first.

@tpat30 I've done cancellations as a seller and the entire amount is refunded to the buyer immediately. It should be an automatic refund via the system. A seller cannot withhold any portion this way, just think of all the unscrupulous sellers out there who would be doing this.
I'm also bothered by that asterisk but we cannot see your entire screen. It feels like there is something else going on here because of that asterisk. I hope you come back to this thread and post an update when you have one. Best of luck to you....

I ended up just opening a case. The seller said he'd refund the full amount the next day, but didn't. It looks like I finally got the full amount after opening the case just minutes ago lol.
The asterisk said, "Refund includes applicable sales tax."
Part of me thinks the seller might have refunded me on his own without cancelling the order. I couldn't contact eBay by mail on here because it kept saying that the item was on it's way even though he cancelled it.
Thanks everyone.
