Russian scammer wants return

I’m going to try to include as much details as possible right now as I’m at work typing this.

i listed a couple listings for Milwakee batteries, they are 2 pack-model 48-11-1835s in case you want to see what I was selling. I got a guy that purchased them and shipping address was to 402 Meco Dr
Wilmington DE 19804-1112

so when I googled that address I came across the Russian scammer thread and I immediately canceled the order. I believe I got a defect against me. The buyer started cussing me out and left me negative feedback.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/eBay-Chat/RUSSIAN-RESHIPPER-SCAM-ZAPP-EAST-LLC-Is-Now-LITEMF-LLC/td-p/...

so next day I get a purchase with different name and same address. One of the last post in that thread says something along the lines like it’s just a service they use to forward and not all is a scam and I also thought to myself I can’t keep canceling purchases but i had a bad feeling about it but went ahead with the sale anyways.

so now it has been about 20 days and he opened up a case saying it doesn’t fit. That the 8ah battery can not be taken by plane. I asked another person from Russia about them having issues and he claimed he has them shipped all the time. Whether he really had an issue or not idk. I did have one of those held through GSP because it couldn’t be shipped.

anyways wouldn’t this be the buyers responsibility to know?

I didn’t know if I’m just being scammed or not since I already had doubts. My listing says it does not accept returns.

i have the Option of declining the return. What happens if I do?

another thing to note is the buyer first asked for 60.00 back and I said I can not do that at the price I sold to him for them I said you can send it back for a full refund to see what he would say and he said ok. I really don’t want to refund him **bleep**. Because I think he’s scamming. I asked him where it was located and this was his reply

402 meca dr

Ste #LM101538
Wilmington, DE (Delaware) 19804
USA
+1 (302) 246-1037

I then googled the phone number and it takes you back to the scam

That address is the address of a freight forwarder (FFer).  If you can prove the item was delivered there AND THEN forwarded to a foreign address you are off the hook.  Ask the buyer if indeed that happened and look for a charge for the use of a foreign CC in your eBay charges associated with the sale.  That should be the "proof" eBay needs to prove item was forwarded.

Anytime a buyer has something forwarded they lose MBG protection.

Re: Russian scammer wants return

I would just decline the return since it's remorse and you aren't required to accept..  They are just trying to scam you into a partial refund.

Re: Russian scammer wants return

It seems I have another one where the delivery is going to "Suite #K260138, 13820 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR" - That SUITE number is probably their reference to someone, a po - part of their SCAM.  As no Suite number is ever that long!

So, I don't want to cancel the order because then my money would refund them, correct?  So, if I wait patiently for Ebay to actually deposit the money into my bank account....then ship, that should be ok, I think.

Interestingly, the order was put in late Friday night and ebay doesn't work on processing funds until Monday.

Am I on the right track??

Thanks, all.

NO!  You appear to be wandering around in Conspiracyville, LOL. 😱

As long as you ship to the address on file you are protected by eBay.

Look at the buyer's profile - where are they registered?  If it is a foreign country, then send them a polite note and ask if the item is going to a re-shipper (Freight Forwarder, FFer)  and then to their country or are they in the USA?  I am just  curious where the items are going, nothing more.   Always pleased to have a world-wide audience for the things being sold.   Usually the buyer answers going to a re-shipper and then to their country.

This is the way to collect the 'proof' upfront as to whether an item will be reshipped.  That email correspondence should be enough proof for eBay to deny a buyers MBG claim IF it should happen.`  Might be a way to retroactively "collect" this kind of proof with a slick note to the buyer, but I have not idea how to do that.  Also, if it is a foreigner, they probably paid with an overseas CC and your eBay charges will show and extra 1.65% charge for  the foreign CC.

Point is that once tracking shows 'delivered' to a FFer the seller is done!  Once the package is forwarded the buyer loses MBG protections for INAD, SNAD or damaged in shipping.  Even IF eBay requires a return/refund the seller is only required to issue a return label from the USA address from where it was reshipped.   Seller has no responsibility for the international portion of shipping.  So at worst, it is no different than a domestic return!

So relax, do the work needed to confirm the address and buyer's intention and don't lose the sale or the money.  A FFer is actually and advantage to a seller as no where else in eBay does a  buyer lose MBG protection - advantage seller.

Re: Russian scammer wants return

yeah it's a scam so do not refund him. yes it's his responsibility. in fact try to report him if you can. also block him too if you can just to be safe in case he tries to do something or bad things.

Re: Russian scammer wants return

That address is a freight forwarder too.  I had a package go missing to that address.
