Hi!!
Quick question as I've never dealt with this before. I recently sold a hardcover notebook planner for $15.99. Brand new perfect condition. I definitely don't want to argue over that amount but would just like some feedback. I packaged it very well, double bubble wrap, tissue paper another layer of bubble wrap and put it in a box. They just messaged me first wanting to exchange. I don't have stock of multiple items so it was just the one book. He claims there is a crease on the cover, that was not there when it was in my possession.
Since I can't exchange it, now he wants a refund and prepaid shipping label. My listing states no returns. I'm fine having him ship it back but I don't feel I should be covering the return shipping as it was already a free shipping item in excellent condition. Any advice?

If they claim the item is damaged and open a case, you will have to send them a return shipping label and refund them once the item is returned.

Honest Sellers really don't have a leg to stand on, do they?

I assume it's the "VICTORIA'S SECRET PINK LEOPARD CHEETAH STICKERS PLANNER AGENDA ORGANIZER"? If so, almost all the pictures are stock so I can't really comment on their complaint of a crease. If they open a normal return, you should have a decline button available for you to click on, I would use that. If they open a SNAD return, you will have to pay return shipping and refund 100%, IMO, it's not worth the return shipping costs (plus the original shipping), but many feel differently about letting buyers keep things for free. If there is no case, I would just message the buyer to return and you'll refund them upon return.

As far as ebay is concerned, there is no such thing as an honest seller. Funny since we make them all their billions...

You are correct. That is the item. I can 100% guarantee there was zero damage while it was in my possession and I know I packaged that like a beast. I offered a partial refund so we don't have to deal with a return but I have yet to hear back... What happens if he doesn't open a return case? I just think this is silly squabbling over $16 and after fees I didn't even collect that! I hate that shady buyers have the capability of damaging received items, and can get their money back and the seller is now out money as well as their item...

" What happens if he doesn't open a return case?"
Nothing.

Except a potential negative review... Which would not be great

Negs don't go against sellers anymore, neither do DSR's. I would BLOCK that buyer and not contact them anymore. Let sleeping dogs lie. No Case = No Problem.

Thank you. That makes me feel a little better. I take pride in having a happy buyer and absolutely hate when this kind of stuff happens. Confrontation is not fun. Do you happen to know how long a buyer has to trigger a return case? I have since blocked him as well, just in case.

30 days from delivery for eBay, 180 days from the transaction date for PayPal (fairly rare), 1 year or more for a credit card chargeback (extremely rare). If you make it to 30 days, you're 75% in the clear, 180 days 99% in the clear, 365 days 99.99% in the clear. EBay is only only one where you have to pay return shipping. Most PayPal chargeback are unauthorized transaction which has nothing to do with a return. Good Luck
