Returns label different to address given by seller

Hi, recently got an item from someone, once I received it I found out it was fake.

I opened up a case, for a return & spoke to the seller who said they don’t accept returns, item was sold as seen etc!
we couldn’t come to an agreement so eBay stepped in after 3 days and the decision went in my favour and was asked to return the item with a prepaid postage returns label.
I done this, but as I couldn’t print the label, I copied the address from there and sent it Royal Mail first class, and added the tracking number to the case to say it has been sent.
So to my knowledge I’ve done everything I should have.

since then, the person has messaged me and said that I was to send it to a different address, I stated I’ve already sent it, and used the address given by eBay, and they’ve replied saying it better be sent to the correct address, pretty angrily!

The address on the returns label, and the one he’s asking me to return it to are completely different.  I’m concerned as I’ve sent it to where I was told by eBay, but he’s obviously telling me different so he’s never going to receive the item, I’m guessing I won’t receive my refund!?

or by me doing exactly what eBay told me to do will I be ok?

It was the seller's responsibility to make sure that eBay had their correct return address.

They failed to do this.

That's on them.

Once the item shows it was returned (delivery scan), regardless of what address, you are due a full refund.  You are covered because you sued a label issued by eBay.  As OP said, seller might have moved and forgot to up date their address on eBay's system - not your problem.

Wait the 2 or 3 days that eBay allows the seller to issue the refund and when that expires, contact eBay Customer Service and request the full refund.  DO not be bullied by this unknowlegable seller.  Stop trading emails with the seller as there is nothing to be gained.  You are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee, use it and don't do something that messes that up.

Good luck
