I am the buyer. I bought something from a seller and it was not as described. I opened a case and the seller agreed to refund and take back the item.
The seller refunded me.
I then used the pre-paid return lable to return the item back to the seller.
The item went to the seller location, and USPS tracking showed out for delivery.
My eBay case is closed.
However, the package did not get picked up. Not sure why?
The post office then sent me back the item because it was unclaimed for 14 days.
I got the item back.
Seller is now saying he did not see the item and asking why I didn't send the item back.
What should I do?
Can he open a case with eBay/Paypal saying I did not return?
Will the seller be able to yank money out from my Paypal account?
I do not need the item and I am out of the country for the next 3 weeks.
Thank you.

Just send the tracking number to the seller and let him see what happened. If he still wants the item returned, tell him to send you another return shipping label.
No one can take money out of a buyer's account. And it's highly doubtful the seller can open a case. If he doesn't send you a return label, the item is yours to do with as you want.

The seller must be new. He should not have refunded you until he got the item back.
That's his first mistake.
His next mistake is that he did not bother to pick up his package from the post office.
Both of those are the sellers mistakes and not yours.
You do not have to do anything else. I would tell him to look at the tracking history and he can see where the package waited to be picked up for 14 days.
If it's an expensive item he REALLY wants back then he can pay for you to ship it again. He does this by sending you the money to your paypal account to pay for the label. Be sure the postage amount sent is the USPS retail price as that is what you will be paying.
You do not have to do send it back though it's the sellers fault. He can't open a claim against a buyer.

I do not need the item so I am glad to send it back to the seller. However, the thing is that I am already out of the country and won't be back in 3 weeks.
I did not even see the returned package, all I saw was the eBay Delivery notice emailed to me. The seller's email asking where is the item was also sent to me on the SAME day I got the package back. I am suspecting he knew he didn't pick up the item and he knew the item was going back to me.
