Returned Item With Damage

I sold an item for $500.00. The seller stated it was the wrong part and asked to return it. I told the buyer to return it. He did so. The item was damaged in shipment. I contacted the buyer who stated he had insurance in the amount of $500 on the item. He filed a claim. This takes time with Fed Ex. 5 days after I received the damaged item  (I notified E-bay on line as well as telephone about the damage) they took out the entire amount out of my Pay Pal account after being told by E-Bay that the case would be put on hold! Thu buyer did provide me his claim #. Per Fed Ex the customer who would get any damage payment would be the shipper. The buyer is now unresponsive to my inquiries about the claim. He will most likely get paid n this plus he was paid the full amount $500 from my Pay Pal account! He is going to be double dipping and I am out of everything plus I have a damaged item that I can no longer sell!!

 

I called Fed Ex and they said this happens all the time with E-Bay. The buyers are getting their money back from the seller plus an insurance claim! To make matter worse this buyer is in Canada. Has anyone had a similar experience? What were you able to do it anything? Thanks!

I do not see any way out of this for you, though they did provide you with a claim number, therefore showing damaged item on return.
