Return

I listed a wii as not working or for parts only and also stated it on the description. Someone purchased it to only return it for not working. When I looked at the return details, it said the buyer had already had a return label so I assumed they purchased it because I did not purchase one. I also had my account as buyer pays for return. I contacted ebay live chat to ask what will happen since the return was not my fault since I listed the item accurately and they told me that the buyer did indeed already had a return label and to wait until I have my item back to continue with the case. I waited for the item to get home and when it did, I notice a $19.10 shipping fee on my account. I again contacted ebay live chat and asked about the $19.10 shipping fee. They told me that the fee was due to the return shipping label I had for the wii. I told the person that I listed the item accurately and do not know why I am liable for the fee. The return policy states that the return will automatically go through if the item was damaged or if the received was not what was listed. I told the person that the return policy did not fit my case since I did list my item accurately and the person kept telling me that "we're really asking our sellers to pay for the return label". I told them that they are asking but I am liable for the fee since I listed it accurately. We kept going back and forth until they ultimately told me that they are not going to refund me. I then asked why was the return accepted since the item received was exactly what was listed and obviously it was damaged since the wii did not work but that I listed it as not working. They responded with this. "One of our goals here is of course to help both our buyers and sellers the best way we can. We do not want the buyer to go to their payment institution just to get their refund because if they do so, there is a great chance that the bank will just reverse the payment without you getting the item back and leave you with nothing. That is something we want to avoid that's why we granted them a return label to ship the item back".

My question is how are sellers actually protected with the return policy? Anyone can now just have an option of saying that the item received was damaged or was not accurately listed and get a full refund and have the seller liable for all fees. Does anyone have any suggestions to help get my $19.10 back since it's really unfair that I have to pay since I did my part on listing on item very accurately. Thank you.

They, quite simply, are not protected. Smart buyers can always get a full refund if they know to file the right kind of case. Having a No Returns policy means nothing if they open a not as described case. And the seller is always responsible for the return shipping in that case.
