Had an issue with a package I recently sent to a buyer. First it was sent to the incorrect post office and had to be routed back to the correct destination post office. Once it arrived at the correct post office it almost immediately was scanned return to sender. I have checked with the buyer and their address is correct. I put an inquiry in with USPS but I am worried that my item is damaged and that is why is being sent back. Has anybody had any experience with something like this?

I would call the post office where it was scanned 'return to sender' and ask what happened. Go from there.

Thanks for the reply to follow up I called them initially they blamed it on the buyer for not collecting his mail regularly and that a hold was placed on all mail but now they’re telling me it was because the package did not have enough postage and was oversized so now I’m even more confused.

USPS has terrible customer service on tracking issues. The last few times I have called my local post office no one answers the phone, so I have to get in my car and drive over. Calling 800-ask-usps is a joke, you never get to talk to a real person. I was given the local USPS Consumer Affairs Office phone number, if i'm lucky enough to talk to someone they tell me that they have no more information than what I'm seeing with online tracking. Every person you talk to has a different explanation for your problem, but none of them solve the problem. 2 have told me they will look into it, take my name and phone number, and then never call me. By law, USPS is supposed to be revenue neutral, to do no better than break even. There is no motivation to be profitable, so they always show a net loss, year after year. This is reflected in the customer service model, further exasperated by their Union employees that face no consequence for poor performance.

Was it the briefcase? I'm not familiar with those... was your applied postage correct for the size of the box?
