Hi there, I'm a bit perplexed on what to do here:
I sold a lens back at the begining of August. It was accurately described as an older model that had been factory updated to compatibility with newer cameras. I could go into detail here, but the point is I described the item accurately with very detialed pictures and model+serial number.
Buyer recieves item, and immediately PM's me saying that the lens is the older model and of limited use. "I can return or ask for $50 back. Your choice."
I respectfully reply, and re state that it was described correctly as the older model, and to try it with his camera (because I'd used it with mine). He responds "Yep you are right, all good"
Fast forward two months:
Return request opened. Item not as described.
"Your Description says it is an Ai version lens. It is not. Even though it is adapted as an Ai lens. It is much heavier than the real thing."
What??
For the record, my ad: "It started life as a Pre-AI lens, with the scalloped focus ring, but was clearly updated by Nikon at some point with an AI-s aperture ring (the raised metal ridge as seen on the photo of the rear element), making it compatible with even the newest professional Nikon SLR. " Again supported by a generous and detailed number of photos.

@mariposaprod If it’s an eBay return request, you can decline it. He’s had it more than 30 days. eBay lets buyers request a return up to 60 days later but after 30, you can decline it and he can’t get eBay involved. He can however file with PayPal and his credit card.

Thanks! I always want to be reasonable and work things out, but this one really caught me off guard. What happens if tehy seller does take up dispute with Paypal? Are both parties able to share their side?

Sounds good. The deadline to reply is tomrorow. I had been out of town over the weekend so didn't get a chance to deal with it until today.
I took screen shots of our coorispondance where they accepted the item, and will of the actual ad as well. Just in case!

Maybe nothing.
Maybe they return it.
