Hi Everyone,
I got a return request on a 2020-2021 two year planner that I sold.
This phrase is included in the listing:
Free Shipping / No Returns.
THIS IS A 2020-2021 PLANNER AND IS GOOD FOR 1 YEAR (2021) ONLY.
PURCHASE OF THIS ITEM MEANS BUYER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS PLANNER IS ONLY GOOD FOR THE YEAR 2021. THIS ITEM IS AS DESCRIBED AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.
Buyer has a feedback score of (6) and gave reason of: I made a mistake, wanted 2021-2022 calendar.
eBay is giving me 6 days to respond and the option of declining the return.
If I do decline it and buyer gives me negative feedback, I can get it removed, right ?
Maybe I could give a 50% refund since the planner is good for a year ?
Buyer is definitely going on my naughty list, that is a given.
What would you do ?

you are a TRS.if you woud like to keep that staus you should take it back. I am surprised that you do not have 30 day free returns.saying no to a return is not smart with ebay......if you want to enjoy the good life you should just go with free returns............its a lot less trouble when you have free returns

Decline it.
Negative feedback in next to meaningless anymore.

I may decline it in about 6 days, let them stew on it for awhile.
So if I decline it, can they then open an INAD, or is it over at that point ?
eBay says they will close this case after my answer, whatever it is.

The only benefit of waiting is if the clock runs out on feedback, not that it really matters.
Ebay doesn't figure feedback into performance metrics but if you can avoid it, avoid it and then you get to win twice.
It is over as far as ebay is concerned but they may get another bite with paypal.

I do offer free 30 day returns on everything. I gave up my TR badge on this listing to list this item as no returns because of this very thing. It obviously wasn't worth the sacrifice.
I've probably sold 30+ of these things and am sold out of them at this point. Won't mess with them again, that's for sure.
You are right, I still need to handle this like a TR seller.
I will accept the return and request that the item is returned. Full refund and buyer put on my naughty list.

If they paid with Pay Pal, they can file a claim there.

Not if you changed your terms for this sale.

Have you not read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?
All sellers should read it because it out ranks your "No returns" stance every time.

I am fully aware that a buyer just needs to throw out an INAD to defeat any return policy setting.
Most of them are aware of it also. This is a remorse return.

By offering free 30 day returns aren't you screwed out of two delivery charges? Other then to cut down on nagging buyers, isn't this an expensive choice?

Even if you have free returns you don't have to refund original shipping for a remorse return IF the buyer has paid separately for shipping. If the listing had 'free shipping' you can't withhold the shipping cost.
