Return Problem

A while back I needed to return an item after the seller sent me a counterfeit item. They offered a full refund as soon as the item was returned. I have since returned the item but it says that it is still in transit. I feel like by this time the item should have arrived. So what do I do if the item I've returned got lost in the post or if I speculate that the seller simply didn't mark the item as delivered when it was?

Right now I'm thinking of just giving ebay a call. But I was wondering if anyone else had some advice for me.

Return Problem

Long ago, brian.t@ebay wrote about returns lost or damaged in transit:

The person that pays for the label is responsible for what happens in transit. If the seller provides the funds for the buyer to purchase, the seller is still responsible. If the buyer paid for return shipping then we would close the case in the sellers favor. If the seller paid for return shipping then it would close in the buyers favor. This is how we have decided claims in the past and that will continue going forward.

Thank you. The seller was the one who paid for the return shipping but the case has already been marked as closed but I have not yet received my refund for the return?

1.  If the case was marked closed one of two things has happened - seller/buyer did not react in time as instructed by eBay or your  were refunded.

2.  A seller cannot manipulate  the delivery date  or any other information in the carrier's  tracking report.

3.  Took a  peek at  the FB you left for sellers and found that during the last monthly period you left a neg FB for a seller  and stated you recv'd a refund  on a fake item you received.  Are these one in the  same?  FYI We are not allowed to provide the sellers eBay ID  per eBay policy but you can readily find it.

Return Problem

The one with negative feedback was a different buy--also defective. I've pretty much been striking out with buying new phones. The one I left the feedback on, was resolved.

At the moment, I'm kind of guess that the item got lost in the post during the return process. So I guess that maybe the seller didn't react in time because after checking my bank account I am certain that I have not received my refund (and looking at the 'return detail' it is still marked as 'item shipped'.  This is actually the first time I've ever done a return so I could be confused about some things but I know that I have not received my refund and that the has been sent out.

Part of me wonders if I should give the item more time to be delivered, but it has been a little over two weeks and I feel like the item should have been delivered already. Hence why I think that it was lost in the post office.  I just don't know where to go from there because it is neither my fault nor the seller's if it was lost in transit.

How did you pay for the item, was it a credit card processed through PayPal?

Go to USPS.com and open a missing mail report.

They will try to track it down. It may take 7-10 days, but they will either find it and get it on its way (or return it to you) or they will determine it to be "lost", at which time a reimbursement claim can be made on an insured item (priority mail and priority express)
