Requesting a refund from Ebay

I purchased a high value item in April of 2019, though i knew the item would not be shipped to me until mid september. I've tried multiple times to contact the seller for tracking or updates, but i haven't received a response. I decided to try to get a refund through ebay, but i'm not able to select the item i have an issue with since the order was placed over 60 days ago. Is there another method i can use to seek a refund? I need to either have my item delivered or my money back.

I am sorry but the eBay money back guarantee has expired and eBay does not retain any information past 60-days.  So there is no joy to be found with eBay.   Hopefully you used PayPal in that transaction as you would have 180 days to file a claim there if that time period has not timed out.   Also if you used a credit card perhaps you can file a "charge back" with the CC company?

Now a word of unwelcome advice..... I would NEVER buy anything online that required it to be prepaid and not shipped for 5-6 months.  Too easy for someone unknown to disappear and your funds with it.  Certainly such time frames exceed the buyer favorable eBay Money Back Guarantee, so doing that means one is buying without any protection.  I see many listings from overseas that have long handling times a delivery dates that exceed 60-days, which is a sure lock at being a loser for the buyer.

I hope you can get some satisfaction form PP or the CC so that this doesn't have to be chalked up as "tuition paid" and an expensive lesson.

Good luck!

Ebay won't help and you would need to contact Paypal about it as it is within their 180 days(6 months) since purchase. They can help get your funds back. They will contact the seller and if they put in the tracking number you have to wait til it shows delivery or no delivery.

eBay's policies forbid sellers from having a handling time longer than 30 days, even for pre-sales.  Buyer protection expires 30 days after the latest estimated delivery date.  So your options to file a claim through eBay expired long ago.

If you paid through PayPal, you might be able to file an "Item not received" claim through them, because their coverage is 180 days from date of purchase.

Thank you for the replies. I'll try to get a refund through paypal. What i don't understand is that the seller appears to still be active on ebay and has favorable feedback. If im not receiving responses from them i would assume that they scammed me, but if that's the case i'd like to report them to stop them from doing it again.
