I sold an item that requires a large box so I offered FedEx Home Delivery as an option, and that is what my buyer selected. I would just take it down there but my husband has to take my car tomorrow as his is in the shop, so I called FedEx and asked if they could pick it up, and they said once I print out the label to call them back, and they could schedule the pick up. The story changed once I did that, and I'm wondering if this last guy is wrong or if the first guy was wrong. I made it clear to everyone I talked to, (I got disconnected a couple of times), that I am an eBay seller and this is not a return and I do not have a FedEx account.
If the last guy was right and I do need an account, do you think it is worth having an account if I am seldom going to use it?

You need a FEDEX account for them to do a pickup as far as I know.
I use FEDEX a lot and only had one package go missing in 10 years. Never have issues with them as some others seem to. I love my Fedex driver. Always helpful.
Even if we flag down a driver in a parking lot we never have had issues with them.

I once had to ship FedEx (a return). My areas FedEx is over a hour away. They demanded $11.45 which had to be handed to the driver upon pick-up. I told them I had to work and I would put the package on my porch with the money in a envelope. It sat there for 3 days.
Needless to say I do not use FedEx.

I don't blame you for not using them again. I told the last guy I talked to that I would never use them again after he told me they won't pick it up after the guy before him told me they would after I buy the label and have a tracking number. So, I wasted more of my time by calling again. I was just hoping the last guy was wrong, not the previous guy I talked to.
It's irritating that I got different stories, hung up on before I even got rude, and none of them seem to care, or know how to listen. It's even just irritating trying to get to a real person when you call, let alone having to go through that numerous times, only to be given misinformation, and not knowing who's information was correct.

I've never had a problem with any of the drivers of any of the delivery companies. I think most of them try to do the best job possible in the time they are given. It's trying to get a straight answer out of their customer service reps after going through hoops and loops to even get a real person on the phone. But I have found that to be true with most companies I've had to call. I'm trying to think of a company where I had an easy time getting a real person on the phone and I didn't have to numerously repeat my question and I got a straight answer back. I'm sure it has happen, but I can't recall.
Thanks for your responses. I will assume I need a FedEx account to request a pick up that is not a return.
