I purchased an item and when it didn't show up the seller claims that USPS lost it but tracking shows the seller only printed a label and USPS was still waiting to receive it.
I say the seller never sent the first one and lied about shipping it to cover his behind.
How is it possible for the supposed lost packages replacement to have the exact same tracking number as the lost one?
Item was purchased on the 14th with guaranteed same day shipping. Label was printed on the 14th with arrival by the 16th. When contacted on the 16th the seller claimed USPS lost it and that another one would be shipped out and taken to the PO personally by the seller on the 16th. All of a sudden tracking shows the item accepted by USPS on the 16th with the original tracking number.
Something doesn't add up here.

What was the estimated date of delivery as shown on the listing?
The seller may get a defect for not shipping until the 16th.
Just so you know, there are problems with the Pompano Fl sorting facility that have been going on for over a month. I know, as that problem affected me as a seller.
Don't be surprised if your item does not show up on the 20th.

Listing says "FAST 'N FREE On or before Sat. Feb. 17 to 33064 Ships today if paid within 5 hrs 21 mins"
I asked on the 16th "Has this been shipped out yet? USPS tracking shows: Pre-Shipment
Feb 14, 2018 at 11:10 AM
Thanks"
Seller replied "Hello, It seems to be lost by usps we have shipped another one out sorry for the inconvenience."
I then asked for the tracking number and never got a reply.
I still think the first one was never shipped just because how can the "lost" package have the same tracking number as the replacement package.
As far as Pompano PO the problem is usually down south in Opa-Locka. I did just buy something from AR and it got to me here in three days First Class mail.

Maybe the seller reprinted the original label? Ebay only allows 24 hrs to reprint but he may have downloaded the label or used a 3rd pary service. The original label was never scanned by the PO so.....he either reprinted the label or he lied. Its not worth stressing yourself over though.

If two different packages have the same tracking number how would USPS go about looking for the one supposedly "lost" package?
Would'nt the "lost" packages tracking number be unusable again?

I'm not stressing about it I just don't like being lied to.
The only reason I ended up with this seller is the first seller that I bought this item from never contacted me to let me know it was out of stock until I contacted them after the delivery date had passed.
FWIW it's a $6 part for a washing machine and two sellers flaked on me so I ended up feeding quarters to machines at the laundromat. That is what I am PO'ed about. 15 minutes to put the part on and do laundry at home or spend hours and handfuls of quarters on a 80 degree+ day at the laundromat. Which would you rather do?
I just wanted to get opinions on the tracking being used on two different packages at the same time.

How is it possible for the supposed lost packages replacement to have the exact same tracking number as the lost one?
The most likely explanation is what you suspect: that the seller didn't actually ship until you contacted him two days later. However, there are a number of other, far less likely, possibilities, so I'd take my time about leaving feedback.
Did the seller actually send you the original tracking number again when he sent the replacement shipment? If not, maybe usps found the first parcel and both are on the way.

You are absolutely right. Big red donut heading their way.
First I have to check with my friend who is the Postmaster at a nearby branch and he can/will check to see if the sellers story checks out or if it is pure manure.

I asked the seller for the replacement packages new tracking number and they never replied.
It showed up with the original tracking number and the same name I gave it (Washer Part) on my USPS Informed Delivery before it showed up on eBay's Purchase History page. This was on the 16th.
I know the seller never sent the first one. But I will check with my friend before leaving a Neg. I don't like handing them out but I also don't like being lied to like I'm some kind of idiot.

If you choose to leave a neg, be careful how you word it, and how you communicate with the seller in the meantime. Sellers who routinely abuse the system are often savvy enough to know what to look for to get negs removed. Any mention of feedback in messages or request for any sort of consideration is argued as "extortion". Any mention of late arrival is argued as if the feedback is about the post office rather than the seller.

Thanks you. I never knew that mentioning late arrival could be a possible reason to have feedback removed. Putting in not shipped as per listing should fly though since the listing did state ""FAST 'N FREE On or before Sat. Feb. 17 to 33064 Ships today if paid within 5 hrs 21 mins". It was paid for in what ever time it took to BIN,sign into PayPal and pay. Well within 5 hours.
I take that to mean actually shipped, not just printing the label.
