Rejected return/scammed

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with this return issue I had with this low feedback seller.

The seller’s listing showed a picture of 6 baseball cards with a quantity of 7 available. So I’m thinking okay so he has 42 cards he is selling. I didn’t catch the small print on the bottom of the description that said it’s 1 card.  Why would he have a picture of 6 cards if he’s selling 7 cards? To scam people. The way this seller had this set up was clearly to scam people and I fell for it. I bought quantity of 4, thinking I’m getting 24 cards but only received 4 today. The seller denied my request basically trolling me offering me 10 cents as a partial refund and said have a nice holiday. I have never been this frustrated about an eBay purchase in my life. I spent $65 for something that cost maybe $20. I also messaged him asking if he would do combined shipping if I bought 4 lots of the baseball cards. He should of told me right there that it wasn’t a lot. All he said was yes I will combine them. When I asked for the return the seller said that the title didn’t say lot and it said 1 card in the description (which wasn’t very noticeable).

I have 3500 feedback and I never returned an item before. My question is, how eBay will handle this since he denied the return. Should I call them? Any help will be appreciated. I am lost here what to do and very frustrated. Thanks

Re: Rejected return/scammed

Just file a SNAD ask for a return label and get the whole payment back when it shows delivered back to the seller.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

You just have to wait a few days then you xan escalate this to ebay. Then they decide if the listing is deceptive. If its 6 cards in the picture is different on each its just a display picture showing diffrent varieties. I do the same thing with color variations. I might put a picture of five of the same items in different colors to show the varieties to pick out of. But any listing that is more then one will always say it clearly in the title and the description.  If it doesnt always assume its one item. Look for diffrences in words like card or cards. If it says baseball cards then it has to be more then one. But if it says baseball card then its only one. If you post pics of the description and title i could tell for sure if you have a claim.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

The title of the card said Pete Alonso #475 2019 Topps with 6 cards in the picture. If he has 7 available shouldn’t the picture show 7 cards as well? He did write 1 card in the description but I messaged asking him if it was a lot of cards and he said yes. Just because I was confused with the whole 6 cards in picture but 7 available.

Also I forgot to mention that the picture he was showing wasn’t the exact cards he gave me. The cards in the pictures were in great condition but these had some corner wear.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

Also he charged me $10 shipping for the cards since he knew I thought it was 24 cards from the message I sent him. Plus he put the package weight at 12 oz. The package only weights 1.9 oz. I don’t know what the exact policies are with this but I feel like all of this should be enough proof that’s he’s trying to scam people. All the evidence is there. I hope eBay doesn’t something about this. I know people post 10 of the same card but are only selling one. Those sellers make it obvious that’s what they are doing. This seller was clearly trying to trick people. I just hope eBay sees that.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

Stop communicating with the seller, since he already indicated he will not cooperate with you. Just go to the eBay resolution center, file a "Not as Described" claim. The seller has to send you a return label. Follow the instructions, including the timing instructions, to return the items and get a refund.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

HA ha ha what? You spent $65, and he offered you a 10 cent (like a dime) partial refund??? That's a little more than 1 tenth of a percent. HAHAHA. How the heck did he figure that?

Yea as others have said, stop talking to the seller. Save yourself some grief because @lja440  and @candd205  told you exactly what to do to get all of your money back. Easy peasy. Report the seller if you want and don't worry about it anymore. You don't need the unnecessary stress. 🙂

Re: Rejected return/scammed

I stopped talking to the seller. When I was saying I was asking him questions was before the purchase. He offered 10 cents out of spite. He knows he scammed me.

I reported him and I also requested a return (which was denied and offered 10 cents). eBay said I have to wait till the 15th. If they side with the seller here, I don’t think I can feel comfortable buying sports cards on eBay anymore. I feel like these scammers know every lope hole and that’s a problem.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

You say you reported him and requested a return. Did you do this by just talking with someone on the phone? That is not good enough. You have to do it in the eBay Resolution Center. You have to click the eBay Resolution Center link and then click a return due to "not as described". This does not involve talking to anyone on the phone. You shouldn't have to wait until the 15th (unless it said in the Ebay Resolution Center that it will be resolved by the 15th). I'm a little worried that you 30 day money back guarantee might expire if you wait too long.

Re: Rejected return/scammed

You did already open a return request and the seller denied it? What reason did you give for wanting a return?  If it was a 'not as described' type reason, the seller should not have been able to deny it.
