Frustrating. Now I have to make an auction for a smaller quantity, to fit in an "A" box.

It has never been there; the Regional A box was added just a couple of months ago. You can fake it by listing your package as regular Priority Mail with a weight of 5 pounds, since those prices are $8.04 - $21.01 online vs the Regional B price of $8.07 - $21.89.

what a half-fast way of operating. Why wouldn't they add both RR options.

Because that's how eBay works. It only took them 9 years to add the "A" box.
Until about 2 years ago, the postage rates for the Regional boxes conveniently matched the postage rates for 2 and 5 pounds, so the workaround was easy and accurate, so sellers didn't make a big deal out of it when eBay said they didn't want to bother with the programming task. I share your bafflement about why they didn't add the 'B" box while they were at it.

I just used two Regional B boxes to ship with. There was something going on with Ebay and it's USPS Priority Shipping, luckily I continued to log out, refresh, log out again, etc. finally the next morning, I hit show me other options to ship, and it showed up, what I believe helped was just staying on it, and finally the Regional A Box showed up, and I hit show me other options to ship and the B box finally showed up. I just refused to give up, feeling ebay had another glitch.
Keep trying, it's there. Stay Safe and Healthy.
