I'm trying to refund a buyer. I don't need the item back. When I try to issue the refund, Ebay gives me a message saying "unable to process the refund try again later". How do I get past this?

Was it purchased through PayPal? If so, have you tried going to your PayPal account for the refund. Just a thought.

Are there enough cleared funds in your Pay Pal account to cover the refund?
If not, you'll have to transfer enough funds to cover it.

Yes enough funds are in the account.

Are you a managed payments seller? If so the funds probably need to be in your bank account.

If I refund through paypal, will eBay recognize that refund or will eBay end up taking their own refund out on top of my refund?

no, not a managed payments seller

If you refund through the original Pay Pal transaction, there will be nothing left to refund if Ebay tries, so they won't get a double refund.

I would call eBay and report the issue. I have read about sellers issuing the refund through PayPal and the refund not being registered on eBay's end and then the refund gets taken out a 2nd time and is pain to straightened out.

If the funds were made via PayPal and show as a sale, you should have no problem refunding them to the buyer.

Silly question, but enough funds leftover after PayPal's fee was deducted?
