Refund Questions

Hi all, first time posting here. I'm new to eBay so if this is in the wrong place I do apologise.

So I ordered an item which was lost in transition and I've been granted a refund for it. I got the usual message about it being issued through PayPal and it taking 48 hours to process. 48 hours have passed and I haven't seen or heard anything.

I'm wondering if this is because it can sometimes take 30 days to process as I've heard or if this is affected by the fact I didn't use PayPal to pay for the item, just a debit card. I also live in New Zealand so I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it.

So yeah, I'm aware these questions have probably all been asked before and I'm sorry about that but I thought I would ask anyway.

Thank you.

What does "lost in transition" mean?

Refund Questions

Hi @abigaibeatson-blas-0 the refund should go back to your debit card and it can take several business days to appear. It won't take 30 days. There may be a delay if the refund was issued via e-check though, but not a 30 day delay.

Refund Questions

Yes, international transactions can take longer than domestic transactions. Much depends on the banks involved and whether the seller used an e-check (from bank balance) or refunded from Paypal funds.

Here in the U.S. a refund via e-check is generally completed in 4 to 8 days. (I've been on the receiving end a few times.) Internationally, I would allow 10-14 days and be happy if the refund shows up sooner. Your bank or card issuer probably can provide more precise information based on their experience in processing incoming payments.
