Questions about the following international service(s): USPS Flat Rate Envelope (Padded, Legal, etc.

Hello,

I tried to send an item by USPS Priority Mail International Padded Flat Rate Envelope but eBay won't allow me to generate a label for any of the standard flat rate services (envelope, legal envelope, padded envelope, small flat rate box) if the shipment weighs over 4lbs despite my packing materials saying they're good for up to 20lbs on international shipments.

Is this a change to the international policy? I know 4lbs is the cut-off for first class international mail but thought the services I mentioned above were good for what the shipping materials state they are good for (20lbs on international services; 70lbs on domestic)

According to the info that I found, 4 lbs is the limit for those services.

Priority Mail International® service is a reliable and economical way to ship to more than 180 countries, including Canada, Mexico, and Australia.

  • Options: Ship using free Flat Rate Boxes and Envelopes (envelopes and small boxes up to 4 lbs, medium and large boxes up to 20 lbs), or ship by weight for packages up to 70 lbs.
  • Prices vary by destination country price group and start at $45.95.

When sent international flat rate envelopes and small flat rate boxes are treated just like first class so it makes sense that the weight limits are the same.

Just a thought,,,,supposedly  eBay only has labels for methods that can be tracked.  To some countries First Class International or a small Flat Rate box or a Flat Rate envelope doesn't track.

I'm fairly sure that the ebay label system is not that sophisticated.

They print labels for specific services...I don't think that there is any rule that they won't print for non trackable services...it just happens that they don't print labels for flats.

eBay does print labels for international Canadian services that do not track.

That frown face is only supposed to be a closing parentheses, not an emoji.

It's a misprint. Someone copied text from the Med and Lrg flat rate boxes. It's not the only USPS packaging misprint floating around (link). It's better to go by the DMM than to rely on info printed on USPS packaging.
