Purchased Labels Twice

I am not sure how and why this occured on 07.12.2024 I purchased labels two labels at 6:16am and two more at 6:17am.  I did not print or use the first set of labels (nor did I cancel as I had not realized I purchased them) I was leaving on vacation for a week so I was in a hurry my fault totally.  I am not a huge seller I work full time and do my book keep task every 3 months I would have caught the error then with my double purchse, which would have been to late to cancel so now I check my orders in the same week to be sure nothing odd happens again. 

I realized this past weekend I had two late orders so I went to research them and both show scanned at my local postoffice on 07.12.2024 and delivered very soon after one rated the other did not. 

I was told by ebay since I purchased 2 sets of numbers the 2nd set that I never used does show delivering odd to same city/state but over a month later and their response is packages are late we cannot removed called and talked to someone same thing.  BOTH items show delivered on the 2nd tracking number BEFORE the other tracking number starts shows scanned and that scan is not even in my state.  

Anyone pleaes help me resolve this wtih eBay?

Here's what happened @bowtiquetreasures :

Unused labels have been victim to fraud this year and I can see very clearly that 2 of your tracking numbers (the ones you never used) were, in fact, hijacked by fraudsters.

# 9400108105464338921257 - see the METRO NY scan directly after the label created scan? That confirms it. Same with # 9400108105464338921004

If you submitted void (cancel) requests within the 28 day window you would have been refunded for the labels and the system would have caught the fraud.

At this point: 

1. It's too late to void the labels as you're well past the 28 day window.

2. Because the scans on the hijacked labels happened over a month later, it reflected on your eBay stats as late shipments.

3. You can try to appeal to eBay to remove the late shipments because of this fraud issue, but typically they'll only remove late shipping marks if it affects your seller status (like going from Top Rated to Above Standard, or going from Above Standard to Below Standard).

How to avoid in the future:

Pay attention to your eBay payments page. If you notice you generated 2 labels in error, void the unused label.

To void a shipping label purchased through eBay, go to this page, find the order and select Cancel from the Actions drop-down. The void option is available for 28 days.

It takes between 2-4 weeks to receive a refund on an unused, voided label as the carrier wants to make sure the label isn't used. You'll see the refund on your original source of payment (eBay funds, bank, credit card, etc) and the funds will appear in your account without an email notification.

I appreciate the detailed response, I had no idea labels are "hijacked" very interesting.  I have had to cancel a lable previously, but with this transaction I must have selected the puchase twice, both within one minute, I would not want to pay for 4 labels, lol and only use 2.  

I did appeal but was denied the response was, I reviewed the transactions for the defects you receive on Late Shipment defect and I can see here that the items was shipped after your handling item and delivered after the estimated delivery date as I can see here that the item 315500579115 was purchase last July 11, 2024 and was only shipped August 6, 2024 and delivered late last August 10, 2024 while the item 315475771598 was purchase last July 11, 2024 and was only shipped August 14, 2024 and delivered late last August 16, 2024. Hence, we are maintaining the late shipment defect on the account.

Although you may feel that you did everything to take care of your buyer, we will be retaining this defect. As

this defect is still an indicator of a less than positive buying experience, which we must take seriously.

I am not sure why they will not acknowledge that they delivered on time, they avoided my question and the positive feedback and my seller status is currently not affected.  

Any idea how long it will be before they "fall off" 😞

Yeah, even if they did acknowledge the fraud, they typically don't remove late shipping marks unless they affect your seller status. Good news is there's a tolerance built in so you should be fine.

Based on your sales volume they'll drop off after a year.

As of the Aug 20th eval about a week ago, you were rated based on the period of Aug 01, 2023 - Jul 31, 2024.

That means these late shipment marks technically won't count until the next eval on Sept 20th when you'll be evaluated for Sep 01, 2023 - Aug 31, 2024.

That means these will not drop off until a year from then - Sept 20th, 2025.
