Purchase sent to another state

Ok, so for the second time in 2 months, my purchase has somehow gone from being sent to my verified PayPal address to being sent to another state entirely. The first time was to Virginia, and today Florida!

I got lucky with the first seller who simply apologized and re-sent my item to the correct address, but the second one is not responding to messages. He or she also has been hit with multiple negatives in the last week from other buyers for the exact same issue. Up to that point, the seller had perfect feedback.

I can't file a claim with ebay until tomorrow, but how long should I give this person to reply before I just give up and do more damage to their feedback?

Filing a claim and doing more damage to their feedback are separate actions.

Have you ever used either of these out of state addresses as gift shipping addresses on your PayPal or eBay accounts?  It is possible that these are not seller errors but rather issues resulting from eBay or PayPal using an old backup copy to restore one of their servers and the wrong address being furnished to the seller.

Of course, it is also possible that the seller mixed up the address with another of their customers.  Stuff happens.

Another possibility is that someone hacked your PayPal or eBay accounts and switched the shipping addresses in an attempt to rip off the seller.  They know that you will probably file a INR or SNAD dispute and get your money back.  Meanwhile, they would have received the merchandise and the seller would be out both the money and the item.  You might want to change your passwords for both PayPal and eBay accounts.

You can do more damage to their feedback right now, no need to wait.

Why would you want to do more damage to their feedback?  I would be more interested in finding out why this occurred twice and in either getting my money back or my item.  If it happened with two different shipments from two different sellers it might not be the sellers that are causing the issue.

This can happen if the seller is buying his postage at the post office and then uploading the tracking when he gets home. If he mixes up his receipts, he may put the wrong tracking number on your listing, and you end up watching the progress of someone else's package instead of your own. Meanwhile, out there somewhere else, another puzzled buyer is watching the progress of your package to your address. Try doing a search of your seller's Sold items and see if he had multiple sales on the day you bought yours.

If that's the case, then it's just a tracking paperwork error by the seller, and your package will actually arrive as usual. If you have an account on usps.com, you can get alerts about incoming packages to your address even if you don't know the number, so try opening a free account there to get future notifications.

If the package has not appeared after the last estimated date of delivery and the seller is not helpful, file your Item Not Received dispute and collect your refund.

Nope, never lived in either area, nor do I know anyone there.

I understand that that things happen including honest mistakes. I certainly don't hold that against anyone. My problem is when a seller doesn't reply at all. It leaves me little choice but to assume the worst when others are leaving negative feedback for the exact same issue.

That's precisely the point. I have no interest in doing damage to their feedback. I'm far more interested in resolving the issue without going down that road. However, communication is a two way street, and if I can't get them to even reply to me, it leaves me very little choice. Like I said in the original post, I'm not the only one affected. I simply don't leave negative feedback at the drop of a hat.

Frankly, feedback should be the last thing on your mind.  I would be more concerned as to why this happened twice with orders from different sellers.  By focusing on feedback I believe that you may be putting too much emphasis on the wrong syl AB le
