Did you mean:

Professional Return Scammer

I sold a high dollar digital item with no tracking. And no the professional scammer is trying to scam me out of the money. I have proof through a third party item was sent successfully. Buyer now sending me back a empty box with signature confirmation. Should I accept it? I found out his address and phone number are fake. What should I do?

On eBay????   You don't do that ... in fact, if by "high dollar" you mean over $750, then you need signature confirmation.  eBay will not accept some third party testimony.

Buyer now sending me back a empty box with signature confirmation.

How do you know it is empty if you haven't received it?

What should I do?

Since most of your listings offer 30-day free returns, I would assume that this does as well.  So, you have the option to withhold up to 50% of the refund for items returned in a condition less than what was sent out.  You need to abide by the "Refunds Deduction Guidelines Table" that is on this eBay Policy Page.

Should I accept an empty box though? It has to be sent back digitally? It hasn't. How do I withhold 50%?

Re: Professional Return Scammer

By the way, a couple of pointers to protect yourself in the future ...

eBay has these policies because buyers tend to complain a lot about sellers who trade in these areas, and too many complaints might mean that eBay could suspend or end your account.

I don't know why an empty box is being shipped back, and I don't think it is going to make any difference whether you accept it or not.

A "professional" scammer/thief would never have shipped you anything.  They simply would have stated "Item Not Received" because you did not provide a tracking number ... they would win their claim easily since you don't have a tracking number.

It is an option presented to you in the refund screen.  You might be careful here, because if you had sent me a digital item that was worthless and did not give me a full refund, then I'm going to go both to PayPal and to my Credit Card to get the refund ... you can fight me all you want, but I will eventually get all my money back.

You don't have any basis for denying my claim.  This is why some digital sales are so risky.

OK, assuming that you mean one of your most expensive items, which were digital items, I'm afraid that you may be out of luck. See the screen shot below.

eBay doesn't allow the sale of digital items, and there is no seller protection for items that are or can be delivered digitally.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/digitally-delivered-goods-policy?id=4...

If there is any way that you can recover the items digitally, or prevent them from being used by the "buyer", then I would recommend that you do so. Because you are probably not going to be able to keep the payments.

If something is being sent to you as a "return", you should accept it. If you refuse to accept it, that won't help.  You have to accept the return, or eBay will refund the buyer anyway.

I don't know if you will be able to do a partial refund, under these circumstances. Please let us know what happens with that.

Proof through a third party?  Packages that are forwarded to the buyer after delivery lose buyer protection.  If you have tracking showing delivered to the third party you shouldn't have to accept the return.  Call eBay ASAP.

Seller didn't ship anything ... he sent it digitally.

@orangehound

Oh, he is SOL then.

Buyers are covered for digital goods now (PayPal) so he should probably call PayPal and provide proof the buyer got it.  PayPal should only force them to refund if the seller can't prove they delivered it digitally.

Would Paypal close the case if I provide them proof? I have email proof from Marriott.

Seems to me that YOU are the professional scammer. Absolutely no travel program is cool with you selling your points/miles.

No. Neither PayPal nor eBay will accept email proof from anywhere, except a tracking number with a delivered scan.

Please read the other responses, which are more accurate.  I'm sorry you didn't know that digital-delivered items were not allowed or protected on eBay.

No. eBay will not accept email proof from anywhere.

Nor will PayPal ... emails can easily be changed to say whatever one wants them to say.

Re: Professional Return Scammer

Those "mystery boxes" aren't going to win you any friends at eBay, either. Those listings are clearly in violation of eBay's policy.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/chance-listings-policy?id=4311

You've been registered with eBay way too long to be making these kinds of mistakes or violating these kinds of policies.

I'd probably remove the expired Whey supplements while you're at it:
