I checked on the progress of a package I shipped today and saw "processing exception other delay". Does anyone have any idea what this could mean? Thanks!

Have had this on all my packages the last week. Our packages go through Warrendale, PA and there was a chemical spill there last week so they are having to put this on the tracking since there might be a delay. So far all packages have had no delay.
Also, it can show up when USPS is changing out equipment and there might be a delay.

"Processing exception" means that something about the package must be handled manually ... that is, the automatic package handling equipment found something wrong with the label or size or something, and it is going to have to have some human eyes and hands get involved. Obviously, this will introduce a delay as the package waits to have someone tend to it.

Thanks for your response! We checked the post office this morning and they said all packages left there without an issue, so it would make sense that a possible issue down the line exists. Just wish they could explain the situation when this happens.
