Problems with UPS in Oregon?

Checked the tracking on a package this morning and I see this message:

DUE TO OPERATING CONDITIONS, YOUR PACKAGE MAY BE DELAYED. / DELIVERY WILL BE RESCHEDULED

I've never gotten a message like that. Anybody else get a message like this and any idea what's up? Are there fires in the area or something? Checked the weather service and it says fog and wind advisory. The area in queston is Portland Or. Good thing this isn't a gift.

Problems with UPS in Oregon?

Yes, that notice is common (in any area) when the incoming packages (truck or plane) arrive too late to meet the next dispatch deadline. Weather, road conditions, breakdowns, high package volumes -- all can disrupt schedules. Both western Oregon and Washington are experiencing heavy morning fog this week, with afternoon sun. Fog delays flights, closes airports and severely slows highway traffic. But the delay may have occurred much earlier, preventing your package from reaching Portland in time to be transferred to the scheduled connecting transportation. (No reports of PDX being fogged in, however.) In other words, your package "missed the boat" and will have to wait for the next one. USPS acknowledges delays in similar fashion -- incoming mail arrives at the local sorting facility or PO after the mail carriers have left on their daily routes, so it's held for the next day. ~~C~~

It could be many things, including a wind advisory. I've received messages before where my UPS package was delayed, usually only a day or two at most.

After Black Friday almost half UPS packages are getting delayed doesn't matter from which area they are coming to me.

It could very well be because of the fires if the item comes through that area. It would just be common sense to stop the transports at a safe distance.

Thanks to everyone who replied! ( And sorry I didn't get back sooner but kid had emergency surgery for a wisdom tooth.) It's the heavy amount of packages they are getting hit with. Updates today show it's moving again.
