Anyone know if there's problems with Detroit Sort Centre?
All of Monday's packages got delivered today, except the two that were destined to a place in Michigan and last seen on the 11th in Detroit. Both of them got an "in transit arriving on time" scan yesterday, but they were supposed to be delivered today (as per tracking), and were not.
I'm very concerned about one package in particular (which was shipped priority - these were shipped from Niagara NY on Wednesday), because of the value. I just posted on another thread how it seems to always be the expensive packages that disappear. Maybe because if it was $10 I wouldn't be watching it, but in this case the customer has messaged me several times (when I want it to get there fast, it always takes a lot of extra time and my inbox gets full of messages from the buyer).

Detroit has been bad on and off since beginning of April.
I have noticed many of my parcels were just going directly to either the hub in Indiana or Kansas instead of going down to Detroit
The packages that do go down to Detroit get rerouted to other hubs in unusual parts of the country after hanging around in limbo for a week. I made 2 claims for lost Priority Mail parcels at the end of April, my previous claim was 11 years ago.
I keep closing my store due to Detroit being down as im in Michigan and my parcels are all delayed....very stressful.
I sell fabric and have been swamped...i took a print out of over 40 tracking numbers of delayed parcels into the PO at the beginning of May and asked if they were all sitting in a warehouse somewhere as tracking showed as still in Detroit......Postie said, that they were probably in another state but not scanned as they will do their own mail first.
Its patchy, sometimes they are up and running and then a couple of days later i notice its back to being rerouted again.
Only this last week has it been almost back to normal for my outgoing mail from Michigan

Oh yeah, i forgot, incoming mail not much better into MI...i ordered a mushroom growing kit that spent too long in transit, a 3 day priority mail journey that took 10 days.....
Not sure why i did that as i know the USPS is having issues. NY NJ PA etc was bad too at the time. I know a lot have been off sick and they are running short staffed but Detroit has been struggling for months now.....i guess no one wants to go down and help them out

We had a few packages that were very late with USPS Priority several weeks back. Stuck in transit at a sorting facility. We did trace report on USPS website and the packages moved quick after that.

A few weeks ago, sorry can't be more specific, someone mentioned that the Detroit sorting center was closed.

Also, the Capitol Distribution center near DC. Packages go there, sit a week then go out in the wrong directions, i.e. SC. They have left SC but must be sitting on a truck someplace ... Have been tracing for a week! Will put in a claim shortly. Maybe the will be 'found.'

As others have shared, Detroit has been having issues for months. Even before the pandemic, they periodically have issues sitting on mail for extended periods of time. The packages that have been sitting have nothing to do with their value of the class of mail at this time. I wouldn't worry too much at this point since the estimated delivery was the 11th. However, with the priority mail, I'd suggest opening up a case online. I've found that, no matter the class of mail, that packages mysteriously show up after opening a claim. (By claim I mean the where's my package option.)
I have good news... the package has moved. It's in Allen Park right now as of 3pm today. I think that's near where my buyer lives.
I predicted issues with this transaction from the offset, and things have a tendency to go wrong. (I think this is from dealing with an anxious buyer, makes me pay more attention to details that I don't normally consider to be important).
I didn't check the other Michigan package, but it probably moved too. The other one is a $10 or so priced coin, so I'm a lot less worried (especially since I have a duplicate of it here in case it got lost).
